French paradox though! I have a theory - because everything is so delicious and rich, we eat less…?! That said - I managed to eat everything in sight when I was there in September. 🤣
It’s certainly rich. Actually, thinking about it -
when I went to France for a year at the age of 20, I returned 10kg lighter! Not that healthy in my case though- lots of pains au chocolat, red wine and Royale Menthol Légère! 😱
Hah, I remember spending Easter at a house in Gascony. The elderly patriarch from next door having lunch with the folk we were staying with informed us that the Gascon diet of goose fat and brandy was the healthiest in all of Europe.
His grandson, a submariner in the French navy, waited until his dad had drifted off after lunch and then explained that the department had no major hospitals, and so patients experiencing heart attack and strokes were taken elsewhere for their emergencies.
Whoever is advocating that has clearly fallen under demonic influence and needs to eat a variety of no less than 6 cheeses and consume a bottle of good bordeaux in one session to be considered potentially cured.

His evidence for this was the fact that the Department's stats for deaths from heart disease and stroke were the lowest in all of France...
