I’m concerned that Americans are flocking to a number of adversary-owned social media platforms. We still need a comprehensive and risk-based approach to assessing and mitigating the risks of foreign-owned apps.

what if--and I recognize this is a bold premise--congress debated and agreed a set of generalizable principles for how data should be stored, moved, sold, or collected, and imposed that on all of the companies at the same time so users couldn't move from one regulated platform to an unregulated one

i am NOT worried that people are moving. i don't really care. i also don't know what data protection rules they can have when most of the hacking is some guy clicking on a link for a free tshirt.
