A few months ago, I took a call with a candidate that I decided not to move forward in the process to explain why. Just got a really lovely note from them about how they'd taken the feedback and improved their portfolio and had a few successful interviews since then.

However, I realize the interviewer can only open themselves up to legal liability by sharing specific reasons. It’s unfortunate.

but if the quality was something that could be improved quickly and easily or simply something that their portfolio missed, wouldn’t the savvy hiring manager choose this person knowing their flaws were merely superficial?
- It wasn’t superficial, to clarify, and seems to have taken months for them to tighten.
