What is the worst art advice you have ever received? π€π¨
As for me it was like I shouldn't use references and stop using too vibrant colors, that would be for amateurs πΆ

Some people have nerves π’
"You can't improve, just give up"
"You either do it exactly as I'm telling you to or don't do it at all, I REFUSE to accept anything that is wrong"
"Quality and skill are the only factors to determine fine art, so don't suck"
I can keep going but we have letter limits...
Everyone learns it differently
That what makes art itself diverse that we all have different thoughts and feelings
Such a wonderful thing
As long as it isn't AI we should use all available tools to learn and get better π
"Oh you're stressed out by schoolwork and it's affecting your art? Have you considered... not doing art?"
Glad that you didn't stop and keep on creating π
A lot of people lack the knowledge or understanding of constructive criticism and you need to figure it out which of them are the helpful ones.
I mean I can imagine how a horse looks like but as long as you won't see one everyday, you can't draw it 100% right or know how the anatomy works π΄π
Everyone can be creative and do art...some of us learn faster some of us a bit slower but in the end it is all a matter of practice π
Something along those lines. It kind of crushed me as a kid but looking back it makes no sense.
Guess they don't even know what they mean themselves π
Keep in mind all of them are ignorant and have never drawn anything ever.
I told them that they literally had someone sit there for hours AS A REFFERENCE
"Not the same"
My counter advice: If you got a thing, do your thing!
????
Huh...weird mindset π
I love to use the soft airbrush for highlights
They should guide you the way, but that rarely happens
But like everything in life comes in different shapes π
My art (I also hate that art advice and, in my opinion, I'd say it's quite the opposite: from what I've saw, people who use bright colors normally know about color theory better than the ones who go for softer tones. Not saying it always applies, but from experience-):
If that is wrong to do I would gladly make this mistake all the time π
Keep on creating, there is no wrong way to do so π
Why shouldn't you sell your work? If someone wants to pay for it then it is all good π
I won't go into the AI thing that explains everything...it's garbage
It sucks that it is still getting crapped on. π’
A lot of people can make a living as a freelancer π
I hope it never stopped you from creating what you like to create β€οΈπ
She also claimed that it would make my art more popular
Seems like she doesn't know that people who create comics/manga or anime/cartoons are adults? π π
And as an adult we are allowed to do all the things we like and how we like it. β€οΈ
Arttistic criticism however is the attempt by another to place onto an artist the critics own definition of that self expression and should therefore be ignored.
And using references can be very helpful π
Glad that you still create art! Never give up! β€οΈ
imo It's better if each practice, you have an goal. Are you gonna study shading? Improve your consistency? Proportion? Sexy anime waifu art? background?
"Art must be clean, if you cant be creative on your own with just your mind, then youre not creative at all" "art needs to be done a certain way" this was in elementaryπ
Creativity is a complex thing and comes from different sources π
theres no such thing as cheating in art
I don't see a horse every day, so how should I know how the anatomy works of a freaking horse π
My autistic ass stopped drawing :(
Even if art doesn't get you a job, it can be a great hobby to escape the daily stress π
If they don't know what they are talking they should just shut it π’
I called a suicide phone number a few years ago and told her i want to die in the woods. She said thsts nice.
I hope you are okay now! π’β€οΈ
We need to find that one path to become art gods π
But jokes aside...that is just stupid. lol
That is just awful π
Never be afraid of using references π
People should mind their own business...
It's our life and we do what we want with the time we have π
You do what works the best for you π
I don't recall any bad advice but I also never took art in high school. Dodged a bullet in one way from the sounds of itπ
Those teachers are just the worst for the most part
Good that you still create even with those crappy experiences
If using references is cheating you can call me cheater and I will admit it with a smile on my face π
Like, even non artists can see how that's dumb advice!
I mean I know some people don't like that everything looks like candy but that is my style π
You should always sign your work...especially with all the art theft around π
β¦ actually I want to try that now π€£
Reminds me that they gave me bad grades because I have drawn "Pokemon" ππ
Me: It's a duck!!!!
Got that one throughout high school π
So it is art, simple as that π
Glad that you still create what you love! β€οΈ
Your line art is fantastic ππβ€οΈ
Did they hate the art that much π
That makes no sense π
It only causes a burnout in the end π
That was said to Kosshi, but it kind of hit me too... >.<
I'm sure you guys doing great! β€οΈ
Thank you for the encouragement π₯Ήπ§‘
