I stopped playing The Last of Us for two years because of the clickers in the Highschool. Picked it up and finished it in a week. The Witcher 3 is still currently collecting dust I got really mad at it…maybe one day.
this is so me I stopped playing TLOU at that point too 😂😂 it was scary!!! but i did end up finishing it eventually - very rare for me to pick up games once I stop lol
I gave up on Super Smash Bros Ultimate in 2020 because the final boss was so hard. Then I randomly jumped back in two months ago and beat it in just a few tries.
I was basically between acts 1 and 2 in bg3 and got stuck on this huge wave of enemies then I just gave up on it bc I didn’t wanna explore another route
I’ve been meaning to get back into it since I heard the story’s amazing so I might just lower the difficulty or use cheats + mods to get past any parts that frustrate me lol
I quit FF14 for 18 months in Endwalker because raiding with randos made me want to pull my hair out. Now I mostly just do glam and casual raiding with my FC and it's a lot better 💖
I'm not sure if it was 2007 but I had my first console, PSX, and was playing Megaman X6.
I got frustrated SO FUCKING HARD seeing how after many attempts to pass the last stage's first boss I died and had to repeat the whole stage.
I never played it again 👀 so that makes 17 years?
Over 10 years, I got stuck on Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets on PS2 and never returned to it until I moved out and played loads of my PS2 games again.
Bloodborne! Tried it, without having played any Souls games or even knowing what they were and haaaaated it. Like four years later got really into Elden Ring, smashed through a bunch of other Fromsoft games, and went back to give it another shot. Played it all the way through and loved it.
Hmmm… might’ve been… uh… 3-4 Months? Though, to be fair… it’s self inflicted… since I’m doing a KHIII Lv 1 Crit run.. and I couldn’t get past a specific boss lmao.
Elden Ring. First FromSoftware game I’d played. Bought it March 2022, barely made it anywhere. Picked it back up in September and just entered the royal capital today. As much as I understand their philosophy, I just wish they had a difficulty setting. Me, when the soulsbros see this:
Forever.
Robocraft. At some point, I had just quit out of a test match, literally an area to test out your bot. Later on, I hopped in a regular queue. An hour passed. I quit. A couple months later, I get back in, I can't join because I "quit early out of your previous competitive match"
I stopped.
When I was well over halfway through the final area of the original Persona 5 game, I got hit by a low accuracy insta-kill move. After it sent me to the beginning of the area, I turned it off and have never went back to it. This was over 4 years ago.
I used to log 1000+hrs into Call of Duty every year since the OG MW2, consistently had good stats, good friends to play with. I didn’t get frustrated, so much as really frickin bored. Haven’t touched multiplayer for 9 months, and I don’t plan to.
I abandoned Bloodborne after getting to the Forbidden Woods. Then after 5 years I picked it back up again and powered through and boy am I glad I did!!
Every souls-like ever. I like the idea of them, and I’ve bought and tried to play many of them. Then after getting stomped for an hour by basic enemies I give up, never to return. You’d think I would have learned my lesson by now.
I'm three years into Control. Play it. Think this is so good, get into it. Then there is a section where the horrible control layout gets the better of me, I get stuck on the same section for an hour, then I just have to turn it off for a few months.
I absolutely love Max Payne.
I enjoyed Alan Wake.
I really should like Control... but... you just shouldn't be accidentally switching gun firing modes in a fire fight.
It was my first Soulslike game and I put it down for like three months after the first boss (that werewolf asshole) massacred me over and over and over again.
Sometimes I just want to give it another shot to make sure that I wasn’t just too frustrated to play it well. But most of the time I will just put it down forever.

6 years.
Need I say more? 😂

The Horror thing. It took a few months and a lot of trial and error.. and a few close attempts.
But I do it to learn patience.. I’m the kind of person to brute force something.
However on Crit you have to be super careful.. which is a pain cause of the minimal damage you do at Lv 1.
But yeah, the boss is very frustrating.

1. Sonic the Hedgehog 06. The Billiard "puzzle".
2. The Elite Four in Pokemon Crystal.
With the UI having such tiny text, it made me stop playing for months.
I enjoyed Alan Wake.

I had to enjoy dying in order to enjoy the game 😅
