If you are a lab manager and a student asks you for help on an instrument, do you set up a time to meet them and help them at the instrument or do you tell them to send the data first?

I'd say depends on what help they need, but if they need help on the instrument i'd help them on the instrument. Useful to see what they're physically doing to know if they're doing something wrong
That’s all I ask. Just five minutes, maybe 10. I’ll figure out my dilutions on my own, but is it me or the instrument 😭 one time I spent a long time diluting my sample on the EPR. Got an interesting signal. It turned out to be the stuff I was using to dilute with.
I was working on one project where we were doing quantitative work and the LCMS signal was all over the place. Turns out my colleague didn't know how to pipette quantitatively, and it was an easy fix but I needed to see it to see what they were doing.
I had some of my quality controls come in low for two sets of samples. Talked to the person who prepped them and we realized she wasn't pushing the pipette plunger all the way down since it was one of the ones where the button that ejects the liquid also ejects the tip...
