old retro hardware doesn't have that issue. The snes has some very nice games. Like Link to the Past and Super Metroid and Mario word and All stars are good too!

Not every gamer needs an electronical device to play them, but for the other types of games you'll need some people to play them with so if you don't have anyone that's free lying around, you're out of luck.

May I recommend an indie game not in steam? Vintage Story is a voxel based survival game. It runs great on win, Mac and Linux, and will run on a “potato”. It’s tough, detailed and beautiful. Also addictive: “I’ll just finish this one piece of pottery then go to bed…wait…is it really 5:00 am?”
