20 years ago in France, bread was so much cheaper in supermarkets that people thought all bakeries would close. Bakeries made better bread, and now, there's twice as much bakeries, they will always stay. I know it's overfrench to compare music to bread, but...

But the French have an expression, "mode de vie". And we translate it as "life style" but it's closer for them to be "life fashion". For a Frenchman, buying bread at a higher cost but enjoying a better product in the same way that one would "flex" a Louis Vuitton bag is a choice doesn't happen here.
