That the Google Drive-a-like, IAM thing? Looked at it, but felt complicated for a client I had (but might've been a great fit with enough effort)

Amazon Verified Permissions? Yeah, kinda. The Oso website explains it better, cause you know, AWS is bad at communication.

The example in the launch blog post was also... less than ideal.

It's authorization but for things in your app.

Most people write their own thing for "user X has access to thing Y" and they, of course, end up doing between 3 and 5 re-writes when requirements change.

Instead of everybody badly doing their own thing, that effort can now be offloaded to AVP.

"We use AVP and have audit logs in CloudTrail" will make compliance reviews a breeze, for example. AWS doing this natively is awesome!

I'd maybe wait for it AVP to have better DX (libraries, native integrations in frameworks) but it's a good option if you need something RIGHT NOW.
