Trump isn't smart enough for that level of strategic thinking. I think the russians promised new "opportunities" for trump and have sold him on UA as a hurdle. He's trying to push a shitty, no teeth agreement onto the Ukrainians to get them out of the way, got told no yesterday and lashed out.

This is partly correct I think. Performative politics is their main tool and this was a performance however it has supremely backfired upon them, making them look like churls.

This should be yet another call to action for the EU and others.

I think this was the Trump administration build up. After that it would have become more difficult to act from within an assumed non-democratic nation.

Everything else in the White House today, from staged questions about wearing suits to asking "Great questions" was a distraction
