Will I trust your cognitive aptitude — is it fair competition for a trans-woman who transitioned at 22 to compete against women? I’m open-minded but so far haven’t found anything compelling beyond a sort of vague inclusive morality argument.

Anecdotal instances aside, there’s no empirical evidence that people are transitioning solely to play women’s sports.

There’s also no empirical evidence showing that trans women generally outperform other women in athletics. As with any other woman: some are above-average, some are below average.

Leaving athlete intent aside (don’t think it’s that relevant), in the absence of some arbitrary amount of empirical evidence, do we just let post-pubescent trans-women compete until that body of evidence compiles up to a certain volume? Do we defer a decision until…?
