Legend holds the first coffee shop in Vienna, which led to coffee spreading to western and Northern Europe, opened from deserters/survivors of the ottoman army which king Jan Sobieski of Poland shattered when his forces broke the siege of Vienna
Origins are a bit all over the place but a strong theory is Turkish merchants used to use it as an energy drink on long trade expeditions and it originates from there abouts
Sorry, they are largely credited with the spread, while we don't know for sure there is a great story about a goat herder in Ethiopia discovering it after seeing his goats get jazzed from eating it
I guess some devious lil fella from somewhere in the southern arabian peninsula who just woke up one day and wanted to have a silly lil fun and now it all turned into a morning routine everywhere. Hats off to them 🤠
Fun fact, it was goats in Arabia that first found coffee. Their shepherd noticed that the goats had more energy and were more lively after eating the berries of a certain tree. He then ate some himself and found them to be amazing. Then he grabbed a bunch and took them to his village.
Shout out to the villager 80'000 years ago that was farting and shitting up a storm in the Arabian peninsula just because he couldn't keep off those damn red berries.
