I only ever saw one episode of PPGZ, but I remember that the VAs of the English dub really tried to match the voices of the original show. Like, I remember the Mayor sounding really similar to his counterpart.
Its stuff like this that make me really appreciate how PPGZ aired side by side with the OG in Latin America. It was different, no doubt but I could tell they respected and loved the original. Its made me really interested in these kinds of projects nowadays too, treating the OG like a mythos.
I wasn't able to get into PPGZ, but I've come to really appreciate it for being its own thing while still carrying an air of respect for its source material (which is more than the reboot could ever hope to achieve)
This is so nice and it makes me happy that he was able to enjoy it so much.
IMO, PPGZ was a really cute show and I'm sad that it never aired in the US. There was an English dub but I think it aired exclusively in like...Singapore? They had their own dub of Mega Man Battle Network as well...
It's something I'm coming to really enjoy about fanwork. I really enjoy hearing about what people do with my setting and even when they did things different, it's just... uniquely gratifying to see those things from a different angle.
