It’s the algorithm. Supposedly in the early days appeals were expeditiously handled but I’ve yet to get a response to one.

It is a bit of an enigma - it seems to me that anything with nudity gets automatically flagged as Adult. However, I have so far have always had the Adult label removed when I have appealed and where I have labeled the image as nudity.

I was going for the middle ground of the three because I didn’t consider my images ‘sexual’ but ‘nudity’ they kept getting an additional tag on those from bsky so once I saw that I just went full ‘adult’ so it didn’t appear like I was skirting it. I’m just so happy to not have to delete nipples!

Hi Keira, I've published one or two full frontal shots and they haven't been flagged or deleted, possibly because I've included the hashtag #nosexualnudity. Give it a try!

it does no harm, other than letting users opt-in to seeing nudity, but their AI's "nonsexual" vs. "adult" cutoff seems to be "if below the waist is visible, it's adult content." More or less. Like I said, doesn't matter. Doesn't affect you. There is no algorithm. It's an opt-in system.

Good luck with that question. I pretty much label everything "adult," even trees, but sometimes the bs algorithms add another label. If there's a penis or pee I usually add the "graphic" tag too, but I really don't know when that should be applied.

I see I finally received an "art nude" tag on my profile after changing my banner from a landscape. I would happily have added both that and "adult" from the beginning, but I've never seen a way to tag my entire profile myself.

It worries me some, too. Much of my work has gotten the “Adult Content” label, despite being totally non-sexual. Other posts on the site seem to get the “Non-Sexual Nudity” label; yet I can’t really determine a difference between the nature of the content (generally speaking).

They’re overwhelmed and playing it safe for now. They only had TWENTY employees when the platform exploded a few weeks ago. Here’s hoping they can catch up quickly. I’ve had some of my appeals approved, but not all, and it’s very slow. Best wishes! 😃😸

It seems to default everything to adult content for the time being. Until they get it fleshed out I recommend people just enable all content. It’s not ideal but it’s better than IG/other options. 😕

Still would rather have a privacy cut label than having to deal w/ the "snowball downhill" model where most of my followers can't see my posts til well after.

You can also expect more SM headaches across the board due to the coming FOSTA-SESTA crackdown as per Project 2025.

Its the humanless algorithms & has no real difference as far as I can tell.Probably just better off leaving it unlabeled & let the computers do it for you.

Though practically, the labels more a privacy feature which can be toggled if you can choose NSFW stuff or not in public.

I can't figure it out either, I've had images flagged " adult content" that didn't even violate IG standards🤷. And i have partially nude images on here that didn't.

In my limited experience, if it can find breasts it is adult, even if we mark artistic nude. As others have indicated it seems to err very far on the side of caution.

Just joined recently and their bots seem very trigger happy with categorizing things AC ... though at least it's only hiding it 1 click away which seems way better than banning/shadow banning. Will be interested to see how it goes when I get around to posting too. Best wishes w/ it!!

With my few posts, i conclude that full frontal in general gets the adult label, regardless of the perceived intention or mood of the image. So I also leave that category fully shown for my own browsing, and I recommend that. Have not encountered any actually explicit the in the feed so far.

It shows as 'adult content' only to the poster. It makes no difference whatsoever to the viewer as long as the viewer has removed all the content filters from the settings.

But that's kinda the point; I expect people to label stuff properly because I'm not here to see sexual content personally and I have that filter turned off.

I shouldn't have to have the option for graphic sex on just to see NONSEXUAL art nude content.
