Right now, there are no public tools that reliably show if a finished piece is AI or not. Especially if you're saying it's human eye passable.

However,

Procreate has a timeline feature. You could require a video of the art being made. Those are very difficult to fake if not impossible

Vector based artwork, as far as I know, doesn't have a good GenAI generator? But someone could feed GenAI into a vector redraw.

I know there has been talk about watermarking but I don't think anyone has implemented it. In fact, it would probably take an act of Congress, literally, to get AI companies to do that. And since Big Beautiful Bill goes out of its way to ban even states from regulating AI, I don't see that happening

If the price point is too low, I would be wary (ie too good to be true). Otherwise, even before GenAI issues, there has always been problems with people faking their art, the best metric is to look at their overall body of work: is it consistent? Do they suddenly do multiple, more difficult styles?

Well you'd ask the artist. And they'd say no. And that should be good enough.

Other factors include price and speed.

In my experience the feedback and sketch work would be unlikely to really work seamlessly. Usually i provide a ref or two and a description then get some sketches/rough ideas and then those are refined. I imagine ai would have a hard time retaining consistency. But beyond that, time lapse?
