The narrative was, Pihema was a bad kid, he'd been drinking and smoking pot, he tagged Emery's garage door (disputed) and for this, it was heavily implied if not outright stated, he *deserved* in some way to be *chased* and *stabbed* by a man who *tried to hide what he'd done*

Emery got sentenced to four years for manslaughter and was out in under one to serve home detention. And to this day almost every headine about the case does not refer to Pihema Cameron, a 15-year-old boy, by name, but only as "tagger". "Tagger killer seeks parole." "Man who killed tagger" etc
