Platform-side briefing before I’m off onboard the train…
Because Dahuichang is treated as a halt for ticketing purposes there are no ticketing facilities anywhere at this station/halt.
Instead you buy your railway ticket onboard…
Will be interesting how my Chinese Green Card works this one out!…
I remember when I took my previous pic of this station years back it was a vanilla/pink station with a rather funky font for the station name in Chinese…
It’s now been standardised…
The Chinese railways have not forgotten about their Classic Rail stations one bit.
There’s a nice platform shelter even if it’s miniature. Plus, seating! Not sofas but it’s so nice to just have a seat… and wait for your train in the open. (With something on top to keep you dry… hopefully!)
AANKOMST! The total epic classic Train 6438… Platform 1 here at Dahuichang.
You board from doors opened by hand, operated from rail crew.
Best to be with the train manager so you can get tickets once you board.
But there’s a catch… (involving… money… and nope they don’t take Swiss francs!)
…So actually, yeah, onboard THIS service, you are expected to pay IN CASH… in Renminbi!
(Chinese law mandates service providers MUST accept cash!)
So this was a surprise but luckily someone paid for me and I paid her back on WeChat.
My reward? Classic paper ticket!
And the Chinese Green Card worked!
