Hey #Rails community, your leader just contributed to the mental health stigma remaining strong, and most likely made a lot of folks feel bad about their #ADHD diagnosis (to say the least).

After I finally came out of it, I looked for a psychiatrist specialising in ADHD to finally confirm my suspicions.

I chose a doctor based on their credentials: expert in ADHD, PhD in psychiatry etc. A brilliant person by those metrics.

They proceeded to prescribe me with ADHD meds and a checkup in 3 weeks

The appointment cost me A LOT. For a total of 15 minutes of treatment and a lifetime of being medicated.
That does not compute in my brain. It does not make sense at all.

DHH’s post starts with this: the oversimplification of the condition turning it into a business. There’s definitely some truth to that.
It’s become an adjective. And that’s wrong too
