I don't have the proper climate zone, but fortunately with babying (and mildly acidic soil) mine has survived - so far!

I don't know what you mean, but just deleted my comment rather than continue. Hope you have a good weekend.

So pretty! Love those early ones with the darker blooms. Mine have not arrived yet - very late!
Also staring at my white flowering camellia bush, hoping it wakes up soon. ππ€

I hope you're hanging in there okay, I admit, not doing so well over here. Getting out in nature, and hanging out with fellow gardeners here and irl, has been my saving grace. π€

As an organic gardener who has also studied glyphosates for decades, I so get this.
It's incredibly tough to eradicate invasive species.
Not worth the damage it does, imho - but it's damage not seen as quickly as the sight of dead bindweed, which is my bane.

Not much pisses me off more than the denial of the dangers of these herbicides.

NIH: Toxic Effects of Glyphosate on the Nervous System:
"...it is unequivocal that exposure to glyphosate, alone or in commercial formulations, can produce important alterations in the structure and function of the nervous system of humans, rodents, fish, and invertebrate animals."

While no fan of RFK Jr's extreme opinions in certain areas, he is right on the dangers of glyphosates - to wildlife, to bees, to humans, for the planet.
It is settled, tons of studies and tons of evidence. The only thing not settled is invested interests denying it.
From the NIH: ...

When I first learned about this, I giggled.
Am still giggling.

This airline is so wildly callous in how they routinely deal with their passengers... that if they're offering $30,000, "no strings attached," you know it ought to be minimum 10x more.
And it's no doubt only offered to stop from being sued.

It is! Thank you. I do think it's worth the highly sketchy narrow dirt road to get there. π΅βπ«π

Isn't this when the Yamnaya entered Europe from the steppes, around 5000 years ago?

Yes, the wind! So mean.
Was in Wisconsin last week and by the lake, especially, the wind was so intense. And it was a mere 18F/-8C, before the wind picked up. Brrrrr!

Last week's word: snow.
This week's word: mud.
But hellebores are peeking up at the world, maybe they'll bloom soon, usually they already are... pic from last year at this time.

Wasn't sure I'd start, or finish, it! But it is very good, and sadly enlightening. A wonderful writer.
My recent reads have been similarly light. 'How to Spot a Fascist,' by Umberto Eco, for instance. Fortunately a small book, doesn't take too much to spot! π

It's ludicrous and horrifying, all at once.
And not only here in the U.S.

I feel your pain. Frustrating when the weather patterns are all awry as they've been... and sadly, likely will stay or get worse...
Here it's bindweed and quackgrass. They both are monsters! π΅βπ«

Yes! Fully agree.
Had the hardest time getting basil to be happy with our hot dry summers, though, finally planted them on the north side of tomatoes and they thrived. Never-ending lessons with that garden teacher.ππ± Medicinals I've grown (borage, calendula) take over! Fun to harvest & make things.

Having a carpenter ancestor helps! I also have two of his 'world's most uncomfortable' (but gorgeous) dining chairs. π
And, thank you! I grew veggies/medicinal herbs for decades, then flowers during the pandemic. Time to brush up rusty veggie-growing skills! (Which basically means: excellent soil.)
