Otterly adorable duo.

There were a lot of hilarious signs at today's Philly protest (because Philly has A+ protest sign game), but this was my favorite from an "I want that as a tattoo" perspective.

By popular request, 36 outstanding books on Jewish women's history. I have complicated thoughts on the writing of women's history and on the role that contemporary Jewish women play in it, but I'll save those for a proper write up some day. πŸ—ƒοΈ πŸ“šπŸ’™ trmarvin.org/36-great-boo...

This is officially the Haters' Superbowl not just because of Kendrick but because the good people of Philadelphia are known for being haters. The haters prevailed tonight. Long live haters.

Hey, #PhEd folks: Remember, we don't give out info on any student to any agency. Call the General Counsel's office at 215-400-4120.

If you’re worried about putting a post in a genre feed because it might not get as much traction as it would on BookSky, you can just add the πŸ’™ after the πŸ“š. Then the post goes into both the genre feed & BookSky. A horror book post with the πŸ©ΈπŸ“šπŸ’™ emojis would go to the horror feed & the BookSky feed.

For the last week, @kenbensinger.bsky.social and I have been in Altadena, to report on the devastation. But we kept coming back to an Arco gas station, which a group of locals have turned into a beacon of hope with tacos, clothes and community. This is their story: www.nytimes.com/2025/01/15/u...

We have larger concerns heading into 2025, but I can't let go of the idea that the next season of Sesame Street could be its last. So I wrote about why the kids' TV institution is still vital after more than 50 years:

As we confront a second Trump presidency, here’s a path forward: 🧡

After a half century of being told that the radical demand for a transformed social and economic order was a series of empty illusions, the choice to keep dreaming, even as we plant both feet firmly on the ground and in the streets, is exactly the kind of radical practice Le Guin would be proud of.

I know that some of you either have access to resources (MONEY) or know people who do. I am asking you to PLEASE insist that those people fund abortion access. GIVE MONEY TO ABORTION FUNDS. I've been a broken record on this for years. The funds exist; THEY NEED TO BE RESOURCED.

Gutted by more layoffs in this industry. I once barely scraped by thanks to one of these funds after being laid off by Vox. I've donated to a few of these now and I sure wish it wasn't this way. Give if you can. gofund.me/158560c8

Great thread on a topic Seth and I discussed a few times during what we thought were the culture wars.

Awards shouldn’t matter to the extent they do in publishing, but also, as @brittlepaper.bsky.social argues, awards generate effusion about books. I’m happy β€œJames” is getting laurels, because I want people to keep talking about it. I’ve learned so much just from convos about this one book this year.
