Even if they "don't get it" or refuse to do so, calls still make a difference. Remind them of jobs in their district

Good point--one thing that will get there attention is when we stop buying stuff :( but perhaps we should all contact our local reps who are also starting to get worried about their jobs--the microscope companies as well

I followed @barrlab.bsky.social 's suggestion and contacted my local paper. Washington DC is far from Washington State in some ways, but so connected in others.

and this past week I have spoken with the Washington Post, a local newspaper, and the Daily Tarheel and made an appt with my Republican NC State senator whose district contains many people whose jobs depend ion research

No. We are proceeding more slowly than usual but the current plan still is 75 admissions rather than 100.

Interesting. I always say both that I work at the University *AND* that I'm a constituent who lives in the district when I call. I guess when I email I use my gmail though, not the University one. some vague sense that I don't speak for my U.

Those votes got Republicans on the record for supporting endless tax cuts for the rich and slashing Medicaid for working families. Democrats showed up unified against both the GOP amendments and the budget resolution, and made the process a whole lot more painful for Republicans.
