I would agree, it doesn't just seem like FP4 with a bit of age in it, I can't see it degrading over time in that fashion.

Yeh, a lot of memories tied up in that old boat.

I didn't really notice high grain, at least when compared to regular FP4, apart from in the underexposed shadow areas.

Yes I think you could be right, I wonder if type 517 was a primary film for shooting or for making the positive copies ?

Funny, I just saw Lowry's painting of the Royal Iris today as well.

I should say I used a normal SLR though, but with an orange filter, I don't think I'd use an orange with it again.

Yes I tried ISO 100 as well, but used neat replenished D23, and that was for 11min 30sec. With lightroom coaxing they looked like this, but I didn't like the initial scans, way too contrasty, and D23 tends to be pretty soft.

TBF I shot similar subjects for my first roll of type 517 too, and wasn't impressed with the film either. Definitely needed some work assessing ISO and dev time.

I like what you are doing with it Steve, it's a kind of cine toned down to natural look, and I don't mind the grain either ð

Well I like it anyway, the best 'pancake' I have for Nikon. Easy to use, connects electronically if you need it to for exposures, otherwise it's as a normal AI-S. The focal length suits walking around town, and it's a pleasing look, here's a few examples.

I get it, not only the simplicity of a single platform, but ridding yourself of the guilt of supporting Zuckerberg is a real weight off. ð

Well they're good too, but more accurate, those pre-Ai's (also the first f2 Ai version) have a lot of character.

Do you have an old Nikon 50mm f2, like the H or H-C or K ? Not the best of all time, but the out of focus areas are pretty awesome for the money.
