Got this from a member of the NASA resistance. It’s now hanging outside my lab in a display case, because we make space for everyone! Also, space embroidery, because you can never have too much #sciart 🧪🔭🎢

Brag moment- we just secured a grant to host the first-ever Oregon Astronomy Research Symposium (OARS)!!! For the first time ever, all self-identifying astronomers in the state of Oregon will come together at UO to share research, network, and forge new collaborations. Can't wait! 🔭🧪🎢

This morning, the US National Science Foundation fired 168 employees, approximately 10% of its workforce, for no cause other than they were the agency's most recent hires. 🧪 Co-workers are leaving supportive messages before they have to clear out of the building at 5 p.m. Sent to me by a source ⬇️

Astronomer here! If anyone needs a distraction, check out the GORGEOUS radio galaxies MeerKAT in South Africa imaged this weekend that were incidentally in my field of view. Both host supermassive black holes shooting material at relativistic speeds, hundreds of millions of light years away... 🧪🔭🎢
