I’d disagree on “saying the same thing”. They all deal with very disparate, complex themes told through a handful of obscure figures. The format is consistent - stories are very different. He attempts to explain why things are the way they are - beyond that it’s up to you what to do with it.

I grew up in Tyrone in the 70s. I felt the book was about the break down of law and order many experienced here – exported across the border. It read like a documentary in places - internment, barricaded streets, people escaping across the border to safety.
