This is why legal briefs generated by ChatGPT are so bad. For any given narrow legal question there’s not a lot of training data, so the generated text is obvious BS. Think about this with inverts. It will be bad.

The text will be BS, because that’s what LLMs are: BS generators. They work ok when there’s tons of training data for particular areas, because that increases the probability that they’ll take a path that is correct. The less data there is, the worse the performance.

It’ll run into the same problems that lawyers are seeing: it will generate nonsense for species that have little data in the training set.
I wish someone had given the execs at iNat a copy of “The AI Con” before they started on this project.

I think you’re placing too much trust in generative models. The key point to keep in mind is that these are BS machines. They don’t do searches, they generate token strings that statistically look like an answer.

Having grown up in LA, there’s no way to keep the Mexican flags out. Mexican culture is central to LA.

Nothing you have to worry about, since they probably can’t handle snow.

That’s how it’s worked for decades, although recently there’s been a move away from breadth requirements. A lot of students pretty much ignored those classes. I should have realized I wasn’t really a techie because I loved them.

So Musk is loading up Xai with debt, siphoning a bunch off into his own pockets with the plan being to declare the company bankrupt and repudiate the debt?

Neither does OpenAI.

They aren’t hallucinations, it’s the system behaving as designed.

Jay Powell has pissed off everyone by sticking to the law and the data. I admire him for that.

That’s because they used a bullshit extruder to generate the report.

Conditions have been brutal, and I expected more crashes from Roglic. I think he’s actually getting better at keeping the bike upright.
