I called Ted Budd when I heard the news a few days ago. I told him to retire too. (and vote NO on the BBB)

I'd consider the shirts a warning label. "Contents inside are toxic"

Years ago my family called them "2 million dollar shacks" as a joke. It's stunning that they actually CAN throw that money away.

My uncle's mom had an amazing barometer. I was absolutely obsessed with it. About a decade later, I became obsessed with the (old) Weather Channel. I wasn't so keen on the WC after they took over Weather Underground.

Ahhh the Sharpie incident....I remember being absolutely astonished at the level of ignorance from a sitting US president. Now we get that only on days ending with "y". π

Also, apparently FEMA money is being diverted to fund building a detention center called Alligator Alcatraz. I truly hope storms avoid the US and territories this hurricane season.

On top of this we are also losing data "from missing weather balloon launches brought on by cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service, plus the risk of a radar or aircraft breakdown and/or mission cancellation because of a lack of trained technicians"

Another really good article. Hurricane tracking has been set back to 1999. This is not a party, people could die. www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/j...

My hot take: Some tech bro really wants to get into satellites and charge us for technology we already have.

I was 5 in 1972. There was a school bus chant: Nixon, Nixon he's our man McGovern lives in a garbage can! I was shocked to discover that I was the only one on the bus to reverse the names in the chant. I didn't get beat up, but I was always the class weirdo.

This does not let Trump off the hook. He is president, and he could stop Miller's damaging douchebaggery.

I was wondering the same thing. If someone told me ten years ago that STD bots would be a thing, I wouldn't have believed them. (and I would have admired their imagination!)

Excellent point. Speaking of degradation of infrastructure, this got me thinking about medical emergencies. If a tourist has a medical emergency in the US, then the trip just got way more costly. I'm no expert. Can someone in the medical field chime in?

You are correct, but FIFA also cares about profits. People have the power of the purse. Also, empty stands would be an embarrassing look.

You are too kind. β€οΈ To be clear, I think the Trump administration will handle this in the absolute worst way imaginable. I'm obviously worried.
