I was recently looking in the NYC Open Data portal for this and was disappointed it wasn't there. I guess this is something of an explanation.

I laughed unexpectedly hard when he said he was excited to look at the covenant

At this point even getting them to put the siren on seems like a pipe dream

There's a mechanic near me that regularly parks cars on the sidewalk and in the bus lane. The police response has been, "well where else are they supposed to store them?"

So funny to see him wearing a helmet performatively. Like, I don't care if people wear them or not, but if you're gonna wear it, it least do it correctly

Then paste and run: function myFunction() { let ids = [] let threads = GmailApp.search("subject:\"SR Submitted # 311-\""); for(let thread of threads) { ids.push(thread.getFirstMessageSubject().substring(15)); } Logger.log(ids) }

The fact that they're not just driving a full-sized car down the pedestrian paths means this is already way more thorough than their usual work in the park.

They do share data using the GBFS format, but I can't find information there about individual bikes. Eventually they share bike specific data, but that isn't usually publicly available until the month is over

It also relies on being able to see what are docked at any given station. That was possible using a semi-public file that would be updated every minute, but as far as I can tell, that file hasn't been updated since 8/23 (if I'm wrong about that, I'd love someone to share the new link)

I've also seen people amateur sleuthing using public citibike data, but I find that highly suspect. For one thing, it assumes the person took the bike out right when they shot Thompson which seems like a worse plan than already having a bike ready to go. www.tmz.com/2024/12/04/c...

The old blue electric bikes didn't have GPS, but I'm not even sure those are still in the system. The white "cosmo" bikes definitely do have GPS in them that tracks the whole trip. Possibly the dumbest bike you could choose to use while performing an assassination.

The still frame that the police have shared doesn't particularly look like a CitiBike to me, but if witnesses say that's what it was, sure. A different times article says it was an electric bike.
