Final Thoughts: I loved Ryder and Caroline together. And even with my thoughts on the use of the epilogue, I’m already dying for Addison’s story after just that one chapter.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to Grace Turner!

The Critique(cont): To me, epilogues are a chance for me to see the couple once they’re settled in together and being domestic or whatever the story calls for, not for setting up the next book. I would’ve loved it if Grace had included Addison’s POV in a bonus chapter rather than using the epilogue.

The Critique: There wasn’t a whole lot going on for Ryder and Caroline outside of each other, which made the story move a little slowly, in my opinion.
I also don’t love when a book’s epilogue isn’t centered around the main couple.

The Praise: I loved Somewhere to Stay (it was one of my favorite books of 2024) so I’ve been dying for Caroline and Ryder’s story. The characters in this series are so lovable and relatable. I was so happy to get little glimpses of Natalie and Theo as well! This book was also super steamy.

Brief Summary: Caroline hasn’t been interested in relationships in years, choosing to keep things casual instead. That all changes when her best friend’s son makes it clear that he’s interested in her.

Final Thoughts: This was fine! I think it could’ve been a 4-star read if the angst was cranked up a bit.

The Critique: Hudson drove me crazy! Let your sister live her own life, sir! He was so stubborn & it was frustrating to see him acknowledge his flaws but then do nothing to fix them. It bothered me how the 3rd person narrator called him “Hud.” Say his actual name!

The Praise: I liked the premise of this a lot and I enjoyed the side characters. And although it frustrated me, the main characters were flawed and realistic.

Brief Summary: After calling off her own happily-ever-after when her fiancé moved to New York, Dakota spends her days running a bridal shop in her small town. When her ex-fiancé returns to town for his younger sister’s wedding, the two start to question if ending things was the right decision.

The Critique: It’s rude to break my heart, Emily!
Final Thoughts: Funny and so, so angsty. A masterclass in using a dual timeline to wreck me. I loved it.

The Praise: Emily continues to keep me hooked. The angst! I feel like I was in tears for a good 85% of this book. I love a good dual timeline and this one was so effective at making me love Wyn and Harriet together and mourn the end of their relationship.
comment in response to
post
Brief Summary: Harriet is shocked when she arrives at the cottage for her friend group’s annual vacation and is greeted by her long-distance fiancé…or rather, ex-fiancé, since Wyn broke her heart 6 months ago, and they haven’t broken the news to their friends yet.

Song Association: Sharpest Tool by Sabrina Carpenter
Notable Quote: “When we draw apart, he rests his brow against mine, breathing hard in the cold. “I think I love you, Harriet,” he says.
Love, I think. That’s new. And I’ll never be happy without it again.

Final Thoughts: This was interesting and had some surprising twists! It will definitely keep you guessing and make you want to reread to see which clues you missed.

The Critique(cont): I know this is often essential to the story’s progression but it just bugs me because why don’t any of these people trust their partners?!
comment in response to

The Critique: A thing I dislike about this genre in general is how quickly spouses are willing to write off the main character’s concerns, implying that they’re not all there mentally. In Kirsty’s case, it was implied that her pregnancy hormones were driving her to see things and become paranoid.

The Praise: This was a fun read. It was very twisty and kept me guessing. And the most shocking twist for me wasn’t even the main one!

Brief Summary: Years after he left her, Kirsty sees her ex Hughie walking through her workplace. When she approaches him, he tells her they’ve never met, but she’s sure it’s him. When her neighbor disappears, Kirsty suspects Hughie had something to do with it.

The Critique: I kind of wish Finley’s ex had gotten some sort of comeuppance.
Final Thoughts: I enjoyed this quite a bit! Finley and Grey were perfect together.

The Praise: This was cute! I loved Finley in Off The Beaten Path so I was excited to see she got her own book! Grey was so sweet and his backstory was heartbreaking. I also loved the glimpses of Wren and Holden.

The Critique: I wish we had seen a little more relationship development between Cat & Andi. I loved the hotel scene where Cat stays with Andi so they aren’t alone and they get to know each other…I would’ve loved another scene similar to that!
The video game lingo was also a bit confusing sometimes.

The Praise: I liked this! Cat was really sweet and relatable. I liked that Andi was empathetic and kind under their tough shell.

The Critique: Literally nothing. I loved everything about this book and audiobook.
Final Thoughts: Funny, sexy, and unique. One of the best books I read in 2024 for sure.
comment in response to

🎧 Praise(cont): My least favorite thing about listening to audiobooks is having to listen to narrators do silly voices or tones for characters of other genders, so this was perfect for me.
Also, I hadn’t heard of Jacob Morgan before this, but I will listen to him read literally anything after this.

Audiobook Praise: This may be my favorite audiobook I’ve ever listened to. The characters’ personalities really came through and the narrators made it so fun to listen to. I loved that the narrators voiced their characters (and others of their gender) even during the other’s POV chapters.

The Praise: I absolutely loved this. I loved Ali and how strong and witty she was. I loved Josh and how funny and head-over-heels in love he was with Ali. The plot was fun and interesting, the characters were well developed, and the steamy scenes were 🔥🔥🔥.
