@katharinehayhoe.com “Great article, but terrible headline” A very *useful* headline for the Joe Rogans of the world especially since so few people actually read past headlines. And if we remember that headlines are rarely written by the author of the article, then this great article/terrible […]

@Nonilex I already knew I didn’t understand American politics, but still I’ve got to ask: What could possibly possess Democrats to vote *against* impeaching Trump? This is one of the most baffling bits of news I’ve ever read… #USPol

@AnnaAnthro “if red paint is terrorism, then what isn’t?” Nothing. Literally, doing nothing… about anything. Which rather seems to be the point doesn’t it?

This erosion of reality is part of the ecosystem that allows Poillievre and Smith to say such ridiculous, patently untrue things … and get away with it. And their flexibility with truth primes the pump for people to get sucked in by crap like this.

Any reasonably well-informed person will see what it is once they start reading - the red flags abound - but I know a distressingly large number of people that are not good at catching red flags and could easily be sucked in by something like this. Maybe not […] [Original post on mstdn.ca]

That's not to say this is a safe moment, it's the opposite. We have a cornered animal for a president and it is not going to go well. Again, all he can really do is escalations and variations on his themes at this point. And his themes are extraordinarily dangerous and corrosive.

He didn't even set out to be a kids' singer. He was going to be a folk singer and then a friend arm-twisted him into playing a preschool and he was like OH these cats can groove

@gwensnyder.bsky.social I had a group lesson night (violin and viola) when only 3 showed up, ages 5 & 6… I made a goofy reference to a Bananaphone and learned they had never *heard* of Raffi, so we pulled it up online and learned to play along. Definitely a hit with them!

@sarajw If it’s *only* ok because “I get it” - it’s still fascism. If you’re *only* welcome because “I get it” - it’s still just self-love. Practice love and acceptance *especially* when you just don’t get it.

@tryangregory.bsky.social We can’t build “Strong Borders” by giving foreign intelligence agencies unfettered access to information without proper oversight or by undermining the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. #CdnPoli

@MatWright They are doing this now because the GoC stopped funding vaccine procurement in 2025 When Smith says last season’s vaccines weren’t used and talks about wasted money, it’s *federal* money that was wasted because the GoA refused to promote vaccination. They couldn’t have charged for […]

@rebeccasear.bsky.social Anyone who trots out that old saw is immediately discredited as a source for *anything* in my books bc it’s such a mind-numbingly obvious error to anyone with even a little breadth of knowledge, or who is willing to ask even a few very simple questions.
