Hope you enjoy it; fair warning, it's social commentary instead of an Alaskan dog story. If you want one of his lighter short stories atm, there's always "The Madness of John Harned."

Allo! I recently re-read a history/poli-sci text that could go hand in hand with that. Graeber's "The Dawn of Everything" looks at caring cultures from the Ice Age onward, the ways different human societies have looked after each other, and how it compares to mainstream narratives.

Same reason why I can't re-read "A Gift Upon the Shore," then. If you haven't read Miller's "A Canticle for Leibowitz," Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath," or London's "A Piece of Steak," I highly recommend them for the "relevant classics" pile.

Off the top of my head, here's Delain, Within Temptation, and Starset. Go further back, and Rise Against and Nickelback were already on it, too. m.youtube.com/watch?v=wC2d... m.youtube.com/results?sear... m.youtube.com/watch?v=E2uw...

I came across a Catholic planning to use Lent as an economic fast. Necessities only, spending as little at Megacorps as possible. As an Episcopalian, I'm inspired to do the same, and to put my savings into the local food bank and pro-Democracy nonprofits. I also hear it gets easier with practice.

My friend's husband got Marsters to record a personalized birthday greeting for her, in the character of Spike. Very awkward, very sweet.

They keep using the words "minor child," when those drugs kept her from becoming a mother. Semantics don't matter to them.
