Donald Trump has lost nearly 10% of voters—almost 20% of his support—since his election last year. He’s done so largely because he’s pursued the policies he ran on, and most people hate them. Who is at fault for voters not understanding what he ran on? I’d say the press is largely culpable.

A New Mexico judge and his wife have also been arrested, for allegedly hiding a TdA gang member in their home. Given recent history, it’s probably best to take the “hiding” and “gang member” allegations with a fistful of salt. www.the-independent.com/news/world/a...

related, as I pointed out in @ballsandstrikes.org, that's just not how due process works "people shouldn't get due process if they broke the law" ok but it's *through* due process that a judge determines whether anyone actually broke the law so where are we now ballsandstrikes.org/legal-cultur...

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele said Monday that he would not return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States despite a U.S. Supreme Court order that says the Trump administration should facilitate his return.

In a meeting with Trump, El Salvador's president refused to return a man the U.S. illegally deported. Attorney General Pam Bondi also insisted "that's not up to us."

It gets worse: The order found that the administration was covertly withholding millions in FEMA funds from blue states.

Keep talking about the Signal security lapse at the Pentagon. The media may have forgotten about it, but the voters have not.

Trump tried to bury this story on a Friday night, but it’s extremely important: He’s planning to take land on the border controlled by the Dept. of Interior and sign it over to Dept. of Defense so migrants “would have trespassed on a military installation,” resulting in harsher punishment.

Bill Maher is the Chuck Schumer of comedy.

gee i wonder why voters might've been confused about the existential stakes of the last election

Trump just denied North Carolina’s request for FEMA relief from Hurricane Helene, calling it “unwarranted.”

I tell my undergrads that my 20th c lecture course revolves around two big questions — what is America and who counts as American?

Not for nothing, but how, exactly, is it legal to send people for *punishment* in a foreign prison (esp with no due process)? Were the funds being used for it appropriated for this purpose? I feel this has just become a thing no one questions

The administration's stalling is probably due to the condition of the detained.😞

Where have I heard that before

The Trump administration plans to eliminate the research arm of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, close all weather and climate labs and eviscerate its budget along with several other NOAA offices, according to internal documents obtained by CNN.

Ten bucks says El Salvador can’t “find” him?

Marco Rubio must resign.

Thanks, Fox “News.”

He just testified all morning about the reasons why the tariff policy was going to make America great. Then he checked his phone and realized everything he just said was canceled on Truth Social.

Nothing has prepared you to live under Trump 2 as much as growing up in 1980s/90s Latin America. It was exactly like that! The sudden announcements changing everything, the overwhelming uncertainty, the sheer vertigo and whiplash. Plus, the sense that democracy is fragile and could collapse...

Who better to lead a counterterrorism center than someone who has aided and supported the right-wing paramilitary movement?

To make their point, the clergy built an interfaith altar at ICE’s doorstep and offered to break bread with ICE agents, appealing to their shared humanity and values.

Sarah Wynn-Williams, a former Facebook employee who alleged misconduct and sexual harassment at the company in a memoir, will testify before Congress that Meta executives undermined national security and briefed Chinese officials on emerging technologies.

The New College of Florida on Saturday will host actor, comedian and right-wing wellness influencer Russell Brand, days after he was charged with rape and sexual assault in the U.K.

What’s even keeping Trump at a 43% approval rating? At this point, it’s the right-wing media that’s doing the heavy lifting.

It’s a recalibration of economic control. Oligarchs don’t live paycheck to paycheck. They have the capital to buy market dips and recoup faster, acquiring more assets at fire sale prices along the way. When the dust finally settles, they will own more. The rest of us will own less. A lot less.

What makes this visual even more stunning is that it was made possible by people who said their #1 concern when voting was the economy. What idiots.

Sotomayor is right. According to this Supreme Court, the US can now kidnap, detain, and fly legal immigrants and citizens to a foreign country's prison, even if it's a whoopsie. America, people. Freedom and stuff.

Judge Gives Trump Administration 3 Days To Return Her From El Salvador Prison

NEWS: Chief Justice John Roberts has issued an administrative stay pausing the court order requiring Kilmer Abrego Garcia, a man wrongfully sent to an El Salvadoran prison camp, to be returned by midnight tonight.

Unknown numbers of Ukrainians received emails by mistake from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security saying their humanitarian protected status was being revoked and they would have to leave the United States within days, the agency said Friday.

A judge on Friday ruled wrongly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia must be returned to the U.S. The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court for emergency intervention to KEEP HIM THERE even though they admitted they made a mistake deporting him. This is Trump's new rule of law.
