I love your moons! Inspiring! Can you tell me something about your process? Do these go into a raku kiln with the rocks on them?

You even coordinated your toothbrush colors with the glaze! Very fine!

I must have that plant! What on earth is it?

Have you tried this? I did not like the glaze on the top half of this cone 10 vase, so I put a Raku glaze over it for a re-fire. Now it’s a favorite!

Wonderful glaze, it does a great job of showing off your carving work.

I have been using a high-grog phoenix clay, which is supposed to be very thermal shock resistant, for both my cone 10 and raku work. I like that I can change my mind after the bisque.

Kind of makes sense, raku is ~1800 degrees, cone 10 ~2380, so the piece transitioned through the lower temperature twice already (on the way up and the way down from cone 10). Fixing a drainage problem on our building means no high fire and no raku for ~3 months. Arrrrgggghhhh!

I love it when the glaze breaks just right. The kiln gods were smiling for you!
