"Pritzker said this wasn't gonna happen and here we are," one protestor told me. Another said, of Durbin's appearance today: "I literally couldn't hear him... I feel like that's a good metaphor for where our leadership has been on this issue."

A few dozen protesters, undaunted by the rain, continue to draw attention to ICE’s activity at 55 E Monroe. ICE hasn’t been back to immigration court since Monday, the longest pause we’ve seen since they started this new tactic 5 weeks ago.

We heard Durbin was possibly engaged in helping to free three protesters, all U.S. citizens, who were arrested by ICE on Monday, thrown into a van, and held in the garage for hours. So we asked him about it. He says he didn’t know anything about it.

Reminds me of my 3 year old post in a thread about how right-wingers manipulate area crime stats. Guaranteed anyone only giving you a large percentage with no other info is trying to manipulate you.

From a report based on the stop data CPD properly records: "...just 14.8% of drivers stopped by Chicago police were White" "Black drivers were more likely to be searched during a traffic stop" [the hundreds of thousands of missing and incomplete stop reports each year is another can of worms]
