I will chain myself to the PCC for real who’s down

The Prince Charles Cinema in London. 💙

So the Prince Charles Cinema is under threat. Frankly astonishing that this cultural touchstone is at this point. One of very few left in the UK. It needs to be protected. you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

After first try, I've gotta say Tim Tams are better than Penguins. So Australia win this one

When you want to worship in privet.

Terrible news. Thank god for the boutique labels

Really interesting list of Oscars nominees this year. Dune, Anora, Substance are my favourites of the films I've seen but feels quite open.

Just me on this time. A little look back at what I liked and don't like in 2024 and some films I'm looking forward to in 2025 shows.acast.com/last-jedi-on...

Back on the podcast, not always pretty but got the job done. The football wasn't bad either.

Coming to 4K UHD in April from Criterion Anora (2024) 4K UHD New 4K digital master, supervised by director Sean Baker and producer Alex Coco, with 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack #FilmSky #Anora

Interesting year. Happy with the amount I got logged

I think the revelation that Jools Holland's Hootenanny is recorded weeks beforehand, was arguably more devastating than finding out Father Christmas isn't real.

An excellent read here. One I'm glad to be a part of. Some really great moments from the past 12 months that remind you it's not always bad being a football fan

me: you boy what day is it today? boy: nonces shout out of the window day. me: oof you’ve absolutely done me there.

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 24. In 2000, Father Christmas piloted the BBC1 balloon to deliver Christmas presents. You saw small snatches of the balloon in trailers but when the big reveal came it was spectacular and magical!

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 23. Flying through an attic full of presents on BBC1 in 1987. Christmas Day had the last Two Ronnies: 11.80m, Blind Date (14.55m) BEAT Only Fools (14.50m) head to head! Top 3. Corrie: 26.65m, EastEnders: 25.20m, Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom: 18.95m.

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 22. A snowflake for BBC1 in 1983. Some ratings. Christmas Eve: Flash Gordon 12.01m, Punchlines ITV 10.79m, 3-2-1 ITV 9.90m. 9.79m watched Val & Little & Large. Christmas Day: Two Ronnies 12.34m, All Creatures 12.16m, Superman ITV 11.30m. Only Fools 10.75m.

NFL Fantasy football remains the dumbest thing I subject myself to every year

A couple people are like “she’s actually barely lost any net worth” and that’s kind of the point: you can do an incredible amount of stuff and give away billions of dollars and not even notice it and 95% of rich people won’t even do that because they’re nihilist assholes

Every podcast I don’t listen to is called “Achieving the Limit with Duff and Ween” and gets sold for 300 million dollars while every podcast I do listen to is called “The Movie Toilet” and begs me to buy a t shirt so they can eat food

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 21. A 12 Days Of Christmas theme with a partridge in a BBC1 pear tree in 1988. Day & night versions with the partidge flying in and (the rarely seen) out are here. Bread topped Christmas Day with 18m.

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 20. And the first Christmas for BBC2's highbrow 'TWO' in 1986. The TWO was designed by Alan Jeapes who also created the iconic title sequence for EastEnders.

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 19. A snowman for BBC1 in 1980. Christmas Day top 3: The Man With The Golden Gun ITV (15.30m), Paul Daniels BBC1 (14.75m) Eric & Ernie ITV (14.60m). But Boxing Day was bigger. Blankety Blank 19.05m, Two Ronnies 17.90m, Towering Inferno 17.70m all BBC1.

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 18. David Tennant bowed out as #DoctorWho & starred in BBC1's 2009 ident, using reindeer to free a snowed in TARDIS. He introduced his last story (12m watched) & it was the last time we saw the full ident. After he regenerated the news version was used.

This is sick. An enquiry was told Richard Coles‘ brother - an undercover cop - lied to a teenage girl about his identity, pretended he was 24 when he was in his 30s, & coerced her into her first relationship. All because she was an animal rights activist. Some spy cop operations resulted in children

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 17. Multicoloured BBC1 globes in 1981. Gone With The Wind premiered in 2 parts on BBC1 (14.02m/14.42m). But the most watched film that week was Sweeney 2 (16.06m). Christmas Day top 3. Summer Wine: 16.98m, Paul Daniels: 16.87m, Alright On The Night: 15.65m.

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens theonion.com/no-way-to-pr...

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 16. A CBBC competition gave BBC1 its ident in 1986. 30.15m watched Den give Angie divorce papers on EastEnders part 2 at 10pm...with the omnibus. Without? Part 1: 19.50m, part 2: 18.90m. The final Just Good Friends got 20.76m, Only Fools 18.76m.

Over the last year I've been releasing podcasts on the films of 1999. 25 of them for their 25th anniversary. Well this morning the finale episode has gone up and signals the end of this odyssey. Thanks to anyone who has listened. They can all be found at feeds.acast.com/public/shows...

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 15. And we go to an attic where a bunch of snowmen toys come to life on BBC1 in 1994. The BBC '1' Christmas ident first appeared as a nicely wrapped present, which was unwrapped on Christmas Day, then the wrapping paper was chucked away on Boxing Day.

#ChristmasIdentCalendar Day 14. Toys come to life on BBC1 in 1989. The last time BBC1 had a mechanical Christmas symbol. The year of Only Fools! Del falling through a bar, exploding sex dolls & a Christmas Day Jolly Boys Outing (20.12m). But Crocodile Dundee was no.1 (21.77m).
