in times like this I am reminded of my family who was rounded up and slaughtered and I ask what do I wish people had done for us do that

For terrorism & extremism scholars/studies, there's a massive gaping chasm where state racism, fascism & violence are concerned & should be opposed - particularly when committed by western liberal democracies & their allies against marginalised & racialised people & left wing protestors. 1/

Flirts?! It's a long term relationship And how is nativism worse than/an implication of racism when it's a barely concealed articulation of it which is totally mainstreamed already! This is absolute nonsense that describes what has been going on backwards. www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

Important to recognise they aren't doing this for the (obviously laughable) reason that they think it'll 'promote growth', but because McSweeney has told them universities are coded as 'woke' & it lets them pit HE & FE against each other, claiming to support 'working people' over woke intellectuals.

Just been at the grocery store. They've locked up infant formula & stock Israeli products. They don't care about poor kids here, much less those on small boats in the Med & Channel or Palestinian children in Gaza. It's shocking not surprising & not either/or. They're connected.

The turning point that wasn't: the way the world talks about Israel's war has changed. Nothing else has | Nesrine Malik

Just want to reiterate that I’d be very surprised if this happens. Trump can only pardon Chauvin for his federal conviction. If he does, Chauvin gets moved to state prison, where he’d get less protection. To get out, he’d need a state pardon too. And I don’t think Tim Walz is going to do that.

Not boring is their takeaway ...

Today marks five years since George Floyd was murdered by police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis. His death reignited demands for racial justice across the globe - millions took to the streets to declare #BlackLivesMatter.

This type of reporting only serves to normalise far-right politics by exaggerating the role of the "public" in politics and consciously ignoring that public opinion is massively influenced by top-down processes The issue is not immigration but our public debate www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

It was five years ago today that George Floyd was murdered by police officer Derek Chauvin. In the latest issue, @bigissue.com reflects on what has happened since. It includes my article on BLM, the backlash, and mainstreaming of racism and the far right. www.bigissue.com/opinion/blac...

There is a genocide going on & the far right is in gov't in many places, having been mainstreamed on their watch, but terrorism & extremism researchers are too busy applying, parsing & policing 'nihilism' as the new trendy type/concept (replacing accelerationism & the now closed salad bar) ... 1/

Sick of this reductive framing as religious/biblical hate/conflict. It makes it irrational, equal(ly so) & understandable but untouchable by logic or law. It's a modern case of settler colonialism & genocide by a state abusing the memory of the Holocaust & using hi-tech weapons & PR.
