Old man, living in Málaga who still wants a fairer, peaceful world. Reverse Brexit and stop banging on about immigration, they're humans too.
Oh! and cricket, golf, tennis and Leicester City

I recognise a few.
We chose residency after Brexit and sold up in the UK. I'm bitter and twisted about it because Dutch, French, Irish, Finnish, German and Belgian friends come and go as they please,(excl UK). I don't blame Spain or the EU. I blame MPs, liars, racists, chancers and stupid people.

My point really is that there were obviously a lot of rural areas connected by train networks. At some tme decisions were made to close stations and lines. It's a shame.

Presumably Spain had its own equivalent of Beeching cuts. Most towns, must have been very small one's in the 60s and 70s, have old stations and station ventas. It's a shame, they'd link up nicely with the Malaga metro.

Leicestershire is a beautiful county and I guess, like a lot of old people, I remember the past through rose-tinted glasses. Unlike the Mail, I'd not stir up racial difference discontent. As an immigrant in Spain that would be hypocritical at best.

I'm Leicester born and lived there for over 50 years. It's certainly changed and I get that some people find it hard to accept. Leicester never really recovered from the Thatcher years, when it's industrial heart was ripped out. Most immigrant families have worked hard to make Leicester their home.

Welcome news for all the elderly Brits who spent the winters in the Spanish costas, but can't do so now because they voted for Brexit.

It's facts, reality, common sense and decency being censored, for fear of adverse media comment and upsetting a dwindling bunch of xenophobes.

Compulsory for all Spanish citizens over aged 14.

Living here in Spain, everybody has a residency card and number. I don't really see a problem with it.

My Father, who served in intelligence/ciphers, in the 2nd World War, in N Africa and Italy, voted to be in the European Union because talking was better than war. Not much has changed. There's a huge economy of scale despite the inefficiency and being out makes no sense at all.

Interesting. Regarding the age bias, I wonder if older voters were influenced because they were personally affected by the 2nd World War and hoped the EU would reduce the risk of another. I know my parents had that opinion.

I'm in, where and how do I start?
PS I'm a British immigrant/brexit exile, in Malaga. I'll riot for my kids and grandchildren though.

You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to look at who owns the papers and who's got a vested interest in the Tufton Street agenda. You almost have to admire how very rich people have managed to maintain this illusion that their narrative is the narrative of the general public.

Tufton Street is where most of the media gets its public opinions from. Lazy journalism or something more sinister?
comment in response to

The simplification of fiscal choices, and its repetition, by most media outlets using Tufton Street as their primary source. The current government were bullied, by both media and the failed Conservative government, into making pre-election promises that have hamstrung their policies.

There's a fair few other 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants playing the populist immigration card. "Pull up the ladder, we're doing great".

I won't read the article because I'll be f'd if I'll accept ads or give them money. All I'll say is that generally Malaga is better than Birmingham, East Midlands, Bristol, Luton and Stansted. Seats, reasonable food, free WiFi and efficient staff.

My mate Rhys, who I drink with at the bar down the road, always spouts loads of scientific stuff. None of it makes sense to me, but I'll ask him.

The traditional party for racists, managed to appoint an Indian ancestry PM and followed it up with a Nigerian ancestry party leader. Hardly surprising that Reform has mopped up the votes. The Labour Government competing for the same votes is rank stupidity that's bound to fail.

I'm not, similarly as with winter fuel payments, I think there's a better way to target help to those who need it.

There's surely a valid reason for not encouraging hard up couples, (or single mothers) to have more children. The conundrum is how to help without it being an inducement.

The single market freedoms just weren't understood by voters nor by many politicians and businesses. They were sold lies by vote leave, and the ignorant make ready buyers.

Isn't it ironic that many of the people celebrating VE anniversary will vote and support fascists and their vile racist views. The Labour Party and decent politicians should call it what it is.

Maybe they're doing an OK job? Torylight just isn't convincing middle England and they're not racist enough for the red wall seats. The mistakes are presentation, Employer's NI and winter fuel, (which I actually agree with) together with the appearance of sticking to May's red lines on Brexit.

Personally I need subtitles for American films. Mumbling American accents with background music doesn't work.

Torylight doesn't seem to be winning votes.
