It's unclear to me why the US Congressmen are not escorted by big armed cops to push through obstacles to them exercising their legal rights, and instead everyone now defers to the guys with no uniforms or badges or name tags to determine what is and is not legal?

begging for someone to leak the party's anti-trans group chat next so i can stop getting screamed at for pointing out when they're doing this exact shit

Grateful that Brad Lander is using his experience to highlight the biggest outrage; that ICE is re-arresting people who have been 100% compliant with ICE and the courts, with the goal of unlawfully stripping them of a court hearing to juice Stephen Miller's deportation numbers.

It’s pretty funny how all the MAGA people pretended to hate neocons and Bush style foreign policy and the split fucking second they get the chance to do it they’re like damn sounds awesome freedom isn’t free

If you've read that Atlantic story by Annie Lowrey about why ranked choice voting sucks, I'm telling you she's wrong. And I know this because I did something in 2017 Annie did not for this story - I talked to a mathemtician.

Lawmakers who put their bodies on the line for migrants? Folks, they’re good. www.discourseblog.com/p/brad-lande...

In the spring of 2008, I feared America was on the verge of war with Iran — and, believing that it’s good style to get to know people before you bomb them, I made “Rick Steves’ Iran,” a one-hour special that could (and would) only debut on PBS. Sadly, this special has become pertinent again today.

New York City did not defund the police. This is not a thing that happened.

I truly believe we will look back at this attitude as *the* sickness of our political era. It is an extremely basic fact, and has been for decades, that the vast majority of political violence in the US is committed by the right! You cannot solve a problem if you refuse to identify it.

"Tenants in Kansas City are declaring victory after eight months on rent strike—the longest such action in the city’s history...an outcome that lends momentum to efforts to adapt labor union strategies for housing fights." inthesetimes.com/article/rent...

People should generally be less afraid of: -strangers People should generally be more afraid of: -stairs -rings

fascism isn’t just Trump he is a figurehead for a sprawling, wealthy pan right network of elites that will require a true reconstruction of democracy and society away from the forces of digitized consumer hyper capital and back towards people based systems to fix.

... look, it isn't the point, but not a single rank of these dudes is managing a parade march, and that is one of the few things that I can guarantee they've all been trained in. Which means none of them give a solitary shit, especially the NCOs who would in other circumstances be demanding it.

Thoughts and prayers (genuine) for everyone injured in LA and at No Kings events. T's & P's (drippingly sarcastic) for each one of these losers:

It is true. ICE would still be brutalizing immigrants, cops would still be rioting, Israel would still be committing atrocities with our money, capitalism would still be destroying the planet - but they would indeed be at brunch.

This is genuinely wonderful news.

As I understand it, to block Cuomo, it's critical for everyone to fill out all five slots with non-Cuomo candidates. Here's Mamdani's (very fun) video explaining it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFGk...

LAPD is illegally sharing license plate data with ICE and Border Patrol. Under California law, police agencies are barred from sharing license plate reader data with out-of-state public agencies or federal entities.

People in the West Bank were afraid that this was coming - that once Gaza had been sufficiently subdued, they'd be next. Please don't miss this because of all the noise about Iran.

Daylight violation of the Posse Comitatus Act: the military is forbidden from domestic law enforcement or political repression

If this is true, this is an astounding crime

From an Oregon State Police email recruiting members for its SWAT unit: “Are you jonesing to fire 40mm less lethal rounds and gas munitions through windows, gables, cameras, and at fleeing suspects?” "Anyone want to shoot some pepperball into vehicles...?" @maxbernstein.bsky.social @oregonian.com

My latest scoop: ICE has rescinded its accountability policy for warrantless arrests, giving agents “free license to make any arrest,” per one lawyer representing victims. It follows @theguardian.com exclusive that the agency was told to “push the envelope” to meet Trump’s 3k arrest quota.

I love recycling

🧵NEW from @thefreeradical.org: Right in the middle of pride month, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles is obeying in advance and ending their trans health programs for minors and surgeries for adults--despite Trump's legal threats having no actual power. Edited by @davidforbes.bsky.social and me

For those who do not have access or care to go to Twitter for the video, here is the video of the U.S. Secretary of the Army stating that there is currently a soldier on the moon:

SCOOP — ICE employees received an email yesterday telling them the agency's warrantless arrest policy had been rescinded. It's likely part of the Trump administration's efforts to further loosen enforcement restrictions to meet the new quota of 3,000 immigration arrests per day. My report:

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

RIP to Brian Wilson, who gave us many perfect albums but also the perfect interview

This is trash. "A.i." MAKES THINGS UP. We all know this. None of these reports should be admissible in court.

Los Angeles FC crowd chants, "Fuck ICE."

Met an active duty member of the military yesterday who filed conscientious objector paperwork in response to deployment of military on U.S. soil. Was told multiple Army have filed, unknown quantities in other branches.

We must protect our city’s Waymos in case they achieve sentience and are granted voting privileges

cops doing crime on camera. as @chadloder.bsky.social has been pointing out all day, this is totally illegal. cops doing crime. on camera. adjust your stupid headlines accordingly.

“If a cop is caught in a lie on the stand, it’s much easier for them to say the AI made that up as opposed to them saying you caught me lying in the report,” EFF’s @mguariglia.bsky.social told @sfstandard.com.

oh wow this just keeps happening

I was a medic at the Santa Ana protests in OC today. I watched police fire tear gas, flash bangs, & rubber bullets into crowds of men, women, & children. Other medics and I were clearly marked with red crosses, and the police were targeting us. One of the most fucked up things I’ve ever seen.
