When a wildly unrepresentative group of wealthy white homeowners comes to you & tells you that they don't want their neighborhood to change, that they want to freeze the city in amber, no matter who suffers as a result, the proper response is a simple, decisive NO.
We heard you. The answer is no.

But Israel can commit any atrocity it wants because the world has decided that noticing the horrors they are inflicting upon Gaza is anti-Semitic, somehow.

With bike lanes coming to happy beer street, having a fully car free space would be amazing! Such a great location to activate, and encouraging people not to drive when they drink seems like it should be table stakes.

But picking a conservative for a "progressive party" worked for the federal liberals.

There never was any point in appeasing these people. Do not compromise, that's precisely how progress is stopped by stupidity.

Most cyclists are able bodied so we shouldn't build safe infrastructure for them is a wild take. Never mind that this infrastructure makes it easy and more accessible for other users, including wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

We'll be showcasing the new bike lanes on 132 ave. They are safe, connected routes that connect schools, playgrounds, and businesses! All ages and abilities are invited ๐ฒ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ

As long as they are safe and properly built, shared paths are ok. But, outside of 132 ave, we largely aren't building good shared sidewalks.

132 is not a major street.

Every street is a place for cars. There is literally no major streets in the city with bike lanes.

I saw that on the 102 ave bike lanes this afternoon, definitely not a bike.

You have to remember that golf courses are taxpayer funded retreats for the rich while bike lanes and safe streets are for people senior city management doesn't care about.

They aren't sharrows anymore. The city now pretends they are local street bikeways despite them lacking literally every distinguishing feature.

How much will this cost taxpayers? Doesn't seem very fiscally conservative.

Community leagues would be good locations as well, they feel underutilized sometimes.
