The people in power want this, that should be obvious. They are laughing their ass off while you argue with a bot and subconsciously get pissed off at anyone around you who slightly resembles its profile picture.

We are basically dying of social rabbit starvation, and everything around us reinforces that idea. We are not forming opinions based on the experiences of the people who make up our social circles and communities.

When you forgo real life interactions for the internet, you trade reality for almost nothing in return and yet your convinced that you’re in tune with how the people around you feel — all while their algorithm feeds them a completely separate reality.

These online conversations aren’t real anymore. Bots and AI can essentially convince people the sky is purple by instantly flooding topics with well written, convincing sounding bullshit. That’s not a conspiracy, that’s actively happening on every platform that currently exists.

It’s as though we’ve traded face to face relationships for the safe, easy and anonymous “interaction” of the internet, and now that so many people are dependent on it we are being pressured to believe there was never any other way and if there was, it was bad

You can be stabbed in the back by coworkers. You can be stabbed in the back by anyone. Your neighbor may get a little annoying at times. Yes, if you randomly approach a stranger they could find it weird. But like…these are all things that were relatively common up until recently

“the us government didn’t delete your post, they just told Reddit to delete it and Reddit has no expectation to uphold the first amendment” seems like something that we are about to approach if we haven’t already. anyway. I’m going to post about jerking off rapscallion style while i still can

what amount of control does the US government exert over American social media companies. for example, Reddit instantly deleted any mention of Luigi’s manifesto and provided a shaky at best reason for it. Seems pretty obvious that a separate party made that decision for them
