🚨 Breaking: The Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to suspend $65M in teacher-training grants tied to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Chief Justice Roberts joined liberal justices in dissent. Legal battles continue. #SCOTUS #EducationPolicy www.npr.org/2025/04/04/n...

Seems like the NEH is being at once gutted and Trumpified. Sigh.

They did it. They terminated my NEH grant. Their letter went to my junk mail. This is an active grant that would have finished on June 30. “Your grant’s immediate termination is necessary to safeguard the interests of the federal government” They are so afraid of us.

RESTORE NEH FUNDING

The Trump administration's abrupt cancellation of NEH grants guts vital funding for museums, libraries, historical sites, and educators across the U.S. This undermines the preservation of community history, leaving cultural institutions in crisis. #SaveTheHumanities www.npr.org/2025/04/03/n...

The NEH is vital to supporting higher education, research, and the humanities. Putting staff on leave and halting grants is an attack on the institutions that preserve culture, foster critical thinking, and shape our future. #DefendHigherEd #SaveNEH www.npr.org/2025/04/04/n...

See how NYT puts a banner up that says "Trump's Trade War." That's good. Journalists need to do that with the campaign against science and higher ed.

Attacks on higher education—like the $510M funding freeze at Brown—threaten academic freedom, diversity, and democracy itself. Institutions must stand firm, resist capitulation, and uphold their values. Silence isn’t a strategy. #HigherEdUnderAttack #AcademicFreedom www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-t...

Proposed changes to research funding could devastate higher ed: fewer PhD admissions, reduced innovation, and a brain drain as talent seeks opportunities abroad. The ripple effects will hurt universities, students, and the future of science. #HigherEd #ResearchFunding www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Their mutual defense compact against Trump’s crackdown on campus protests is a powerful step forward for academic freedom and justice. ✊ #FightBack www.commondreams.org/news/rutgers...

Public higher ed is under relentless assault & unions are stepping up where many leaders won’t. From lawsuits to protests, they’re fighting for academic freedom, equity, and funding. Neutrality isn’t an option— we MUST resist authoritarian attacks. #KillTheCuts www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...

Researchers and unions are suing the NIH over a $2.4B 'ideological purge' of DEI-related grants. The lawsuit claims abrupt cancellations threaten medical breakthroughs and waste taxpayer dollars. #Science #DEI #NIH www.highereddive.com/news/researc...

US university leaders can learn from 1980s El Salvador: stand for justice, even under attack. Facing funding cuts, DEI bans, & threats to autonomy, courage is key. Align actions with mission, not fear. #HigherEd #Leadership #Democracy theconversation.com/lessons-from...

Princeton’s federal grant suspension underscores increasing government pressure on universities. This move threatens critical research funding and raises concerns about the future of innovation and academic independence. #HigherEd #ResearchFunding www.diverseeducation.com/institutions...

A budding movement of scientists is devoting fresh attention to science communication. They’re gathering testimonials, documenting impacts of funding cuts, and building social-media followings. chroni.cl/3FVkYhd

Cutting billions in research grants undermines public knowledge, halts critical health, education, and climate advances, and wastes investments already made. Science thrives on continuity, but this harms innovation, public health, and global competitiveness. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/view...

The NIH has made headlines for terminating grants and delaying peer review. But there’s another, less visible way the agency is disrupting science: It’s quietly removing some grant applications from review for the indefinite future. chroni.cl/4leEu8z

Drastic cuts loom for the National Endowment for the Humanities: 70-80% staff reductions and cancellation of Biden-era grants are on the table. Advocates warn of devastating impacts on education, cultural preservation, and community programs. #SaveNEH www.insidehighered.com/news/governm...
