Abusive messages, fear of physical violence and violations of privacy are the cost of elected office in the U.S. now, according to nine Gen Z and millennial state lawmakers.

Providing an alternative to establishment politics and an increasingly right-leaning party made all the difference for Mamdani, politics editor @leximcmenamin.com argues in this op-ed. Read the full story here ⤵️

And in tandem we need to root out all cultural references that billionaires are brilliant, smart, useful, or even bloodless No superheros or even adopt their preferred tax plans Consume en all and save the Planet

I am just a poor Black man from the South, but really need to destroy ALL reverence to royalty in our culture n life No kings (including wakanda), no princesses (even fairytales), and James (LeBron) is just a 🐐 Then we can foster an eat the rich mentally and act on it

bowser is a folder

Remarkably strong correlation between pundits who told me the Supreme Court upholding Texas’s abortion bounty hunter law was technical and not a sign it would overturn Roe, and pundits assuring me birthright citizenship is fine because people can “just file a class action” or whatever

Thinking about the tut-tutting Democratic politicians who spent their two years in power warning that Supreme Court expansion was too radical an idea to even think about taking seriously. You absolute fucking rubes. You gigantic, credulous losers. I hope you are ashamed of yourselves today.

NYC Comptroller Brad Lander: "I don't think the line for the [Democratic] party right now is between progressives and moderates; I think it's between fighters and folders."

Places where your newborn children are (for now) automatic citizens of the United States: CA, CO, CT, DE, DC, HI, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NJ, NM, NV, NY, NC, RI, VT, WI, City of San Francisco In every other state, the Republican Party has stolen birthright citizenship from your newborn children.

A radical Christian just murdered the speaker of a state house but the real worry is the theocratic muslim who said the bus should be cheaper

Murder rates could hit record lows this year, but killings by police are rising. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

“[Republicans on the Supreme Court] are now trying to relitigate the 19th century and destroy all of the progress made during the Reconstruction era. And right now, they’re winning their second Civil War, without firing a shot.”

i will hate everyone for a long time.

Birthright ctizienship is good and essential and we're going to need a second Reconstruction to undo the combined damage of the Roberts Court and the second Trump administration.

Stripping birthright citizenship from people born in this country goes against rights guaranteed in the Constitution. We must stand against unconstitutional actions and stand up for the fundamental rights granted to people in the United States of America.

This #OpEd from student organization TREEage celebrates Zohran Mamdani's mayoral primary success as a win for youth climate organizing. Read more here ⤵️

Two weeks ago millions of people in this country marched saying "NO KINGS." The Supreme Court this week responded, "SORRY FOLKS, YES, WE HAVE A KING."

It was a busy week for the D.C. budget. We cover everything the D.C. Council tweaked in Mayor Bowser's proposed budget. And you can dive in by topic area! 51st.news/2026-dc-budg...

Listening to the "Prince of Egypt" animated movie soundtrack (as one does) And remember that some biblical interpretations see the Ten Plagues as revolutionary acts by the enslaved Hebrews to free themselves Fr fr the orange regime needs at least 14

“No right is safe in the new legal regime the Court creates.” –Justice Sonia Sotomayor. One of the most chilling sentences I have ever read.

Prof. @sifill.bsky.social, Founder of the 14th Amendment Center for Law & Democracy, shares her statement on the Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. Casa. You can read the full SCOTUS decision here: www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

if constitutional rights only apply to individuals or states that have sued for relief, you don't actually have constitutional _rights_, you have _privileges_ that can sometimes (but not always) be secured for you by your lawyer

we all need the reminder; remember, we are not powerless

Your reminder to have fun. I’m talking full on child-like random ass fun. Build a model car. Learn how to swing dance. Challenge your friends to a water gun fight. Idc. Do something fun for fun’s sake.

it's important to understand that they want to threaten the very essence of public education. the conservative plan - the plot to enslave america - requires them to destroy public education and replace it with private academies for the rich, religious instruction and prison-like schools for the rest

I am a simple man from the South but I can call a Spade a Spade And it's time for the dreamers to dig deep and design a better Future An actual 21st Century Democracy to meet the moment I'll def hop up, organize and help Forge it, cuz it is not it

So it's time for a 4th Founding or another constitution all together

More and more I understand this moment as reverse Reconstruction.

Waking up and going to a job that you absolutely hate, going home to do chores, eat, and sleep is NOT living!! Omg I want everyone to find out what they’re passionate about so bad and just do that. I want everyone to be happy & experience all of what life has to offer so BAD

there is no jurisprudence at work here. the republican court believes that anything a republican president is presumptively constitutional, even if it directly violates the unambiguous constitutional text and causes total chaos in law and policy.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, dissenting in 6-3 SCOTUS birthright citizenship case: "It is not difficult to predict how this all ends. Eventually, executive power will become completely uncontainable, and our beloved constitutional Republic will be no more." www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

The left better start figuring out how to weaponize today's decision rather than just (rightfully) criticizing it. - Go back into Judge Kaczmaryk's court to dissolve all of his nationwide orders. - Pass gun bans and insist any order applies only to plaintiffs.

We knew this about this Supreme Court. I guess everyone is on the same page now that the courts will not "save" us. The question is really how to save ourselves. On that, we need a lot more people doing a lot of different things for many years.

expand scotus send trump and elon to gitmo re-fund the dept of education, medical research, npr and pbs tax the billionaires there is your platform

Computers used to scream every time they connected to the Internet. They knew. They tried to warn us. We did not listen.

It’s her for me

this is a segregationist administration and it is wild to me that there is any resistance to this straightforward observation

the roberts court is off the rails and illegitimate, needs to be stopped and routed
