We have less than 5 years to act on climate change or severely increase risk of human extinction- 5% of us left 2150 if we do nothing! Reduce CO2 and methane #climateactionnow

What was the point of NACC? Ah, that was the point. So many Australians were hurt by #Robodebt. Some of us died. Accountability? Time to vote Cross Bench. Put your local Greens or Teals ahead of "shit and shitter". Make sure you #PutLNPLast oops that's really #PutGinaLast #asupol.

Mr Dutton said yesterday about 2m businesses will be able to claim a tax deduction of up to $20,000pa under his small business lunches plan. And he's also said it'll cost $250m over 2 yrs. But here's the problem. If they all claim it, as he says they can, each business can only get $250pa. #auspol

A big crowd at the #VoteClimate launch. Dozens of people queuing up to sign up for trainings, street conversations and of course pre-poll and polling day. It's all about handing out quality information about the candidates climate policies! Join in here: lighterfootprints.org/vote-climate... #auspol

Is Dutton's #PimpAndDump nuclear plan really about the world's nuclear waste? Get elected, change the laws, take the waste and forget about ever having to build these white elephants. Plus capping clean energy at only 54% (we're on track for 50% by 2030). cleanenergycouncil.org.au/news-resourc...

Great thread from the #VoteClimate campaign launch for #KooyongVotes It's time for voters to know where the candidates stand on forests, on public transport & EVs, more #renewables, going electric to drop the cost of energy bills. Dave Sweeney was inspirational! #YestoRenewablesNotoNuclear #auspol

Menzies For Climate is an alliance of local climate groups and residents centred in Menzies, committed to leading effective climate action and protecting our environment. Keep a look-out for us in the Menzies electorate. Stay informed and make sure your vote counts at the Federal election!!

After undermining all meaningful action to protect Nature this parliament, the PM has swallowed the salmon industry’s BS hook, line and sinker 🤯😥 The industry pays little in tax & is driving species like the Maugean Skate to extinction. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Competition in the insurance sector isn't the heart of the problem & Peter Dutton's divistiture policy isn't going to solve the cost to insure in high-risk flood zones. To do that those costs would have to be spread across the whole community. #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

Dutton & his mob of environmental vandals here in Australia don’t give a shit either. #auspol #climateactionnow

Looks like a repeat of the Qld LNP state election campaign. Little policy & no costings (remember David Fully-Costed). Make any old claim & even if fact-checked enough media will have repeated it. The election slogan is set as "Peter Dutton Says". #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

A win for Dutton would be a win for Gina, and for big tech. Our data is not safe. This is urgent - we need to get moving on political campaigning or we will have the LNP asset stripping Australia for parts. Time to stand up! #VoteClimate #auspol in #AusVotes2025

"Since the major parties have nine branches, and they can take four donations per donor every three years, that means a single person or company could give $1.8 million to a major party every election cycle." live.australiainstitute.org.au

"There should be a national minimum feed-in tariff policy and there should be, with urgency, a distributed home battery rebates and incentive policy," Smart Energy Council chief executive John Grimes said. #energy #renewables #auspol www.smh.com.au/business/con...

4 pages of Dutton-speil in today's Herald Sun (pp 6-9) and all Murdoch tabloids. No four pages for Albo or an independent though. "Balance" hey? And tomorrow night there's Dutton's 'exclusive' on Sixty Minutes. So that's Dutton getting a free ride from Murdoch & Nine, who own the other papers.

For decades Australians have been told a lie. We’ve been told that only the major parties can govern. But do you feel like they’ve been solving the problems we face? As a voter said, “It’s a choice between sh*t, and sh*tter.” #auspol #IndependenceWorks #ZoeDaniel

Here is an inital excellent guide of what to watch #Dutton and #Nats for as warning signs of attacks on #democracy open.substack.com/pub/christin...

Fun role playing of doorknocking the ACF survey at today's launch of the Kooyong Vote Climate launch 2025 #Auspol2025 @lighterfootprints.bsky.social

We can help beat the stitch-up with shoe leather, creativity, passion and determination. Our communities deserve better than a fossil donated duo(mono)poly. Time to get angry and get cracking for our local #VoteClimate campaigns. #auspol

"Trump and Dutton are a danger to Western Civilisation because they are surrendering the ground to China based upon their political need to support their fossil mates and an irrational denial that climate change is happening." Crispin Hull, Canberra Times, Australia, Feb 4 #auspol #Climate

ACF legend Dave Sweeney addresses a full house in the Camberwell Bowls Club for the Kooyong Votes Climate 2025 campaign #Auspol2025 @lighterfootprints.bsky.social

A real privilege to hear Dave Sweeney - he really knows his stuff. Not surprising that ICAN won a Nobel Peace prize. Nuclear is a health hazard, a security threat, grossly expensive and slow and caps renewables. Find out more about nuclear in our info page here lighterfootprints.org/why-risk-nuc...

Gratifying to see such a change in Kooyong/Boroondara after so many years of effort. 10/11 councillors are climate progressives - a stunning result for a "blue ribbon" seat. See the scorecards and accountability measures here lighterfootprints.org/boroondara-v... #auspol #AusVotes2025 #KooyongVotes

Thread on the #KooyongVotes Vote Climate campaign launch today - with 3 NGOs and local climate groups in the mix. Especially don't miss the Candidate Forum on March 12 - will all the candidates show up or will be there be an empty chair this time too? RSVP now lighterfootprints.org/event/kooyon...

And listen or read. With an Aust Fed election just months away, it has become imperative that voters understand the tactics & tricks that secretive think-tanks deploy, especially Advance Australia that was accused of spreading misinformation during the Voice referendum & the US elections. #auspol

Peter Dutton with more populism. If he gets into government he'll likely forget all about vowing to break up the insurance companies. #auspol

Put Labor & the Coalition last!! #Auspol youtu.be/ZnfPBMM7xhU?...

In Melbourne's east and care about forests, clean energy and going electric to save on energy bills? Join us today at our #VoteClimate launch, Camberwell Central Bowls Club, 14 Bowen St, 3-6pm for a dynamic campaign kick-off! RSVP: lighterfootprints.org/event/kooyon... #auspol #AusVotes2025

Amidst all the criticism of the ABC, a reminder of why the public broadcaster is essential: a very good story by Wimmera ABC journo Julia Bergin on electoral office rorts lets by MP Anne Webster. Local regional media would be too sacred to touch this story www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

Robodebt. The worst scandal in public sector history. Over 400,000 Australians hit with false debts, ruining lives. We must learn the lessons and make sure it never happens again. @pennyallmanpayne.com and I on the job.

Unsure how you’ll vote in the coming Federal election? Sick of the all the misinformation in so much of the media right now? Want to know the history of how your MP actually votes on all the issues that matter to you? Forget what they say, THIS is what they do… theyvoteforyou.org.au

"There are a number of loopholes that the major parties can exploit in both the spending caps and the donation caps that the Govt has proposed." Bill Browne, Director of Democracy & Accountability, joined Fran Kelly on the Radio National hour to discuss donation law changes. @browne90.bsky.social

BREAKING: France, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain & UK sign a joint statement vowing to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty & demanding a role in the peace talks. This is leadership. It’s also unprecedented. A western alliance is having to form against a new, twin & united threat: Trump & Putin.

In her NPC address, Independent MP for Goldstein @zoedaniel.bsky.social sums-up the duopoly of Labor or the Coalition: "It's a choice between shit and shitter." She's not wrong. Labor rptedly fails to uphold Labor values. And the LNP is now a tool of the Fossil Fuels industry. #auspol #AusVotes2025
