Terms: should clearly rule out any GenAI usage, currently they leave the door open for future usage.
Opt out - this is a bad approach if the door is open to GenAI. It should be opt in for that case.

The Feb 2024 update to our Terms was intended to clarify how content may interact with AI technologies within SoundCloud’s own platform. Use cases include personalized recommendations, content organization, fraud detection, and improvements to content identification with the help of AI Technologies

SoundCloud doesn't use artist content to train AI. We block scraping and added a “no AI” tag to prevent misuse. If we ever consider using content for AI, we’ll offer clear opt-out mechanisms in advance—at a minimum—and remain committed to transparency with our creator community.

Totally reasonable response. Up to each individual if the vagueness of terms is enough reason to leave. I'd love to hear them rule out GenAI completely.

I haven't looked into this yet myself, the reason I left Spotify was due to introduction of GenAI remixing tools for users.
"AI" as a broad term is becoming synonymous with GenAI but it also includes recommendation algorithms. The wording will be important and whether they have any GenAI plans.

I moved across to Tidal, it's been pretty good so far (apart from lack of local files, but I can use @plex.tv for that)
