Apple is updating its age range categories for content from (4+, 9+, 12+, and 17+), to (4+, 9+, 13+, 16+, and 18+). Children will not be able to download apps that exceed the age rating that parents have set and apps will get an API to check a user’s age range. A long awaited positive change.

But Adam, you ask! how much easier could this get? I'm so glad you asked. You can just write a function that takes in the data about your current application and infra. Then you can just check to see if the values are right. if they aren't? have the function return what you want to update.

The thing about having your infrastructure as model that will blow your mind - it turns things that, today, require you to build layers and layers of careful abstraction into trivial data transformations. For example: folks try and encode every transition between Dev, QA, and Prod into modules

Congrats to my HashiCorp friends - what a thing you built!

You heard “Layla” for the first time? When it was Slayer i wss with you - but you never once in your life sat in a coffee shop or a store or a fucking radio and heard “Layla”? This is your first time hearing Cream?! youtube.com/watch?v=NBec...

We've started doing training sessions for System Initiative. From a standing start to a full application running on AWS, with ECS, best practice networking, load balancing, manual failover to an EC2 instance, and a tutorial on how to build your own custom templates from scratch: less than 4 hours.

Want to know why System Initiative is going to change your life if you're an infrastructure engineer? We've added full coverage for every AWS service, through using the Cloud Control API and CloudFormation for unsupported resources. It's been weeks, not months, from a standing start.

The way JJ handles bookmarks rather than branches is a treat. Todays flow to rebase? jj git fetch jj edit adamhjk/refine-discovery jj rebase -d main@origin jj git push -b adamhjk/refine-discovery It's not like I don't know how to do it in git. I do. But this made so much more sense.

I wanted to like Captain America. I really did. But this was not a good movie at all - a total mess. Strange plotting, no stakes, they make poor Anthony Mackie just say the most earnest and cheesy lines. Even the costumes weren’t cool. Ouch.

Small, tactical use of LLMs is paying real dividends for us. For example, we’re augmenting assets we generate from cloud formation with rules that exist only in the docs, but not the specs.

But what about the concept of the digital twin? Listen to this latest episode of The New Stack Makers to find out, feat. @systeminit.com CEO & Co-Founder @adamhjk.me

Great read. I would say I think it’s less “beware of single vendor” - it’s more “get comfortable with forking as a natural extension of community”. If you’re using single vendor oss, not paying for it, and it disappeared tomorrow - be ready to fork. That’s the contract.

The American Bar Association has just called upon every attorney, regardless of their political views, to join them & stand up for the rule of law & at minimum insist that our government "follow the law." Every lawyer has an ethical responsibility to do so. www.americanbar.org/news/abanews...

As a pedestrian and parent this sort of shit fills me with rage. There should be so much liability to go around and instead every possible regulator will shrug their shoulders.

There’s a lot of chaos across big tech and government jobs right now given significant shifts in direction and sudden layoffs. The best advice I’ve found during such times is to find your anchors at home (family, partner, etc) and at work then focus on what you can control. This too will pass.
