What was the buzz about the Bears at the combine? With @adamjahns.bsky.social, what we heard from league sources on: • Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson • O-line targets • The RB draft class And much more. Dive in www.nytimes.com/athletic/616...

Bears coach Ben Johnson: "Listen, what’s so beautiful about the coaching staff that we put together, I didn’t hire a bunch of my friends, I went outside of my circle on purpose because I wanted to collect a different mix of experience, of energy, ideas."

Bears coach Ben Johnson: "There is a very healthy respect from me to the analytic community. I think that probably comes from my background. I can't really help it but I do have the computer science and math background."

Bears coach Ben Johnson called John Morton (new Lions OC) about Declan Doyle. "He said, 'Ben, listen, he's another Ben Johnson.' Which, I think that's a good thing. I'm banking on that good thing."

Bears GM Ryan Poles on working with new coach Ben Johnson: "You can just tell the high football IQ is on a totally different level than what I've seen and been a part of before. So it's really good."

Bears GM Ryan Poles was asked about Chiefs guard Trey Smith: "I’m not going to get into players who aren’t on our roster right now. But I’m proud to be a part of that draft process.” Poles was in the Chiefs front office when Smith was drafted in the sixth round in 2021.

Bears GM Ryan Poles this morning: "What I like really about the pairing so far of free agency and the draft is I do believe that the supply of players is matching our needs. So there are going to be good opportunities.”

We’ve got a Free Agency top 150 (!!) by @jourdanrodrigue.bsky.social and @victafur.bsky.social. Go build your Bears shopping list www.nytimes.com/athletic/611...

In a letter to STH, Bears president/CEO Kevin Warren announced that the team will implement a 10 percent average increase in season-ticket packages for 2025.

It's officially NFL Draft Season. @adamjahns.bsky.social and @kfishbain.bsky.social present their first Bears mock draft of 2025. Whose picks do you prefer? www.nytimes.com/athletic/613...

Well, now that the Super Bowl is over and everyone has moved on to the 2025 offseason, let’s get into it. Here’s your Bears salary cap breakdown www.nytimes.com/athletic/611...

Maybe the timing isn't perfect for the Bears to be in any serious Myles Garrett conversations, but the similarities to 2018 are eerie, so I put together a trade proposal with my @theathletic.bsky.social colleagues www.nytimes.com/athletic/611...

At some point soon, the Bears’ focus under Ben Johnson will shift from staff assembly to roster construction. Let's help them out. Ranking the Bears’ top unrestricted free agents: Will Teven Jenkins or Keenan Allen return? www.nytimes.com/athletic/610...

Sean Payton’s influence has reached Chicago in the form of Declan Doyle — and Dennis Allen. “I’ve learned so much from Sean." That and more takeaways from the Bears' coordinators, who just met the media. www.nytimes.com/athletic/610...

Hello from Mobile! The pre-draft process is well underway. Here are a few Bears items I’ll be watching at Senior Bowl week www.nytimes.com/athletic/609...

OK, Bears fans have been too excited. Time to ask some questions about the Ben Johnson hire (…some of them he already answered) www.nytimes.com/athletic/608...

The Bears have their coordinators for the start of the Ben Johnson era. Story www.nytimes.com/athletic/609...

Wrapping up the 2024 Bears inside-the-numbers series with a look at the defense and special teams. Some impressive stats for Edwards, Dexter and Gordon www.nytimes.com/athletic/606...

"He’s created a monster.” How good is Ben Johnson? It might be best to ask other offensive minds. And he's got a lot of influences. I talked to Adam Gase, Mike Sherman, Clyde Christensen, Bill Lazor and Mike Martz about the Bears new HC. My story. www.nytimes.com/athletic/607...

Mike Vrabel is out. Mike McCarthy is in. What about Ben Johnson, Pete Carroll, Todd Monken and more? @kfishbain.bsky.social and @adamjahns.bsky.social with the latest on the Bears' coaching search. www.nytimes.com/athletic/605...

Caleb Williams wasn’t great in every game, but he has managed to develop during a turbulent season. How did Williams and the Bears' coaching staff work together to improve during the final stretch of games? @adamjahns.bsky.social gives an inside look ⤵️ www.nytimes.com/athletic/605...

If Tom Brady and the Raiders are "enamored" with Ben Johnson, then I think it's OK if the Bears end up being head over heels for him. With Mike Vrabel off to the Patriots, all eyes turn to Johnson.

In the Bears' locker room in Detroit on Thanksgiving, GM Ryan Poles lingered for a private moment with his QB. “I promised you!” Caleb Williams replied loudly and smiling. Then he said it again. My inside look at Williams, his coaching and change. www.nytimes.com/athletic/605...

🎄Merry Christmas, Bears fans! I've been saving my favorite clips from the Hoge & Jahns podcast for a while. It's...alarming how hard it is to tell what seasons these are from. So, my gift to you is... "TH-REEEE BIG CLIPS" @adamhoge.bsky.social @adamjahns.bsky.social @kfishbain.bsky.social

Send over your over/unders for Hoge & Jahns. Also, I'll entertain the best questions for Three Big Questions. Seahawks at Bears. TNF. Let's go.

To find their next head coach, the Bears must meet with the coordinators of their NFC North rivals. It’s a sobering, frustrating and hopefully infuriating reality for the Bears’ top decision-maker — chairman George McCaskey. From @adamjahns.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/601...

Bears left tackle Braxton Jones has been ruled out for MNF vs. the Vikings with a concussion. He reported experiencing symptoms this morning.

This came up on the podcast. So I’ll add it here, too: Matt Eberflus got a 5-year contract; Ryan Poles has a 4-year deal. The Bears signed Ryan Pace to an extension before he started his HC search that ended with Matt Nagy. To my knowledge, Poles hasn’t been extended yet.

The good vibes that Thomas Brown provided last week didn’t carry over to game day. But Brown is trying to clean up a mess he didn’t make. Why it's time to look at Ryan Poles and Kevin Warren's places in what this Bears season has become. My column. www.nytimes.com/athletic/597...

This is an absolute indictment on Ryan Poles as a GM for allowing this. Really top drawer reporting @adamjahns.bsky.social and Diana Russini. www.nytimes.com/athletic/595...

Should Chicago fire Matt Eberflus right now? @adamjahns.bsky.social on why it’s time for the Bears brass to have that tough conversation ⤵️ www.nytimes.com/athletic/595...

Bears players believe they’re better than their 4-7 record shows. But this is what happens to teams that feel down on their luck and have a head coach now squarely on the hot seat. @adamjahns.bsky.social from Soldier Field. www.nytimes.com/athletic/594...

Let's try this over here now. Vikings at Bears. Send over your over/unders for Hoge & Jahns.

A few thoughts on how the Bears offense has looked different under OC Thomas Brown in the first half. - Caleb Williams is off and running. Included two designed runs - More motion overall - Using tighter formations more - Getting DJ Moore the ball in different ways

I feel like there's a lot of Packers fans here today at Soldier Field.
