Demonstrators gathered about 6 p.m. near a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office downtown to express solidarity with those in Los Angeles County who have rallied against immigration agents targeting people for deportation at businesses and court hearings.

Farm workers aren’t a threat. Garment workers, day laborers and labor leaders like David Huerta aren’t either.
The threat to our safety is the militarized violence being used against us. We ARE this country. We need to protect each other.

The tactics of immigration “enforcement” agencies are chaotic and violent. Repeatedly the judicial system has declared them unlawful.
When they targeted farm workers in CA, a judge said “You just can’t walk up to people with brown skin and say, ‘Give me your papers,’” but it’s what they’re doing.

I wonder if it’s because the MAGA anti-mask folks are so damned loud and obnoxious. My dad refused to vote for Trump in 2020 because of his attitude towards reducing the risk of transmitting COVID. Dad is a mask guy and hated selfish people who prevented the immunocompromised from going out

Fair point. But when the actual problems include people unironically naming their projects Skynet, I’m not sure it matters.

Hell, Siri can’t even find the right song for me on Spotify. Also, I don’t think they think AI is that developed; I think they are using this to train AI, and don’t care about the consequences

That’s implicit. Anyone who understands context and knows what AI is, already knows that. And also, we’re talking a college student and Chat GPT.

A research facility within the US National Institutes of Health that is tasked with studying Ebola and other deadly infectious diseases has been instructed by the Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to stop research activities.

Are people still buying dolls? Seems more practical to buy kids a Swiss Army knife and show them how to gut a fish or grow a garden or literally any survival skills besides raising a small human of your own

FFS. This sounds GN wants to be like Elon. How much energy and water would this take? Why would you create a system that can be hacked to kill people? Between giving Bannon a platform & BS like this, GN is killing any chance for a run in 2028.

*stares in historian* It’s not a very good point, tbh. Many, many cultures that existed millennia before Britain believed in the rule of law. The US Constitution is something that the UK still doesn’t have. Plus the Enlightenment’s effects.

Yes. The administration has been defying that Supreme Court order for fifteen days now. It is no small thing for the administration to openly defy the courts, just as it is no small thing for the administration to begin prosecuting judges the administration does not like. These situations are wrong.
