New Hellmouth just dropped:

OK, need to quit with the doom scrolling. There will be plenty of fresh doom tomorrow. Good night, friends! Take care of yourselves.

My back hurts for no definite reason. The only thing I have been doing too much of is doom scrolling. I have thrown out my back doom scrolling?

Tesla lost enough value today that it could have fully funded USAID for a year.

OK, aiming to not become entangled in scrolls of doom today. Translation! Admin! Coffee!

I sort of failed today with spiralling into the coils of doom scroll. Not ideal. Things I did do: had a very long walk through Athens. Taught a poetry class to refugee women. Cooked a good/healthy/tasty dinner for family. Watched some 1995 Pride & Prejudice with daughter.

Feds, take care of yourself. If you have any feelings of harming yourself, please call or text 988. Or call 1 800 273 8255! This Fed loves you guys and wants you to be here. Be kind to yourself, #altgov

OK, tomorrow I am going to do less doom scrolling and more translation. (Posting this to hold myself accountable tomorrow...)

Beautiful and a little creepy!

Well, it was cheering to run the refugee women's poetry workshop at Melissa today. We had women from Ukraine, Egypt, Morocco, Syria, and Iran participating. Our prompt was "kites" (Monday is a big kite-flying day in Greece.) Hopes tethered to the earth with string.

Stand your ground, Dems:

Hey, artists, in case you were wondering if your work matters: I'm a scientist working on climate change and biodiversity, and I would not be who I am today without The Lorax, The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, and The X-Files. I know I'm not alone. Thank you for all you do.

OK, would really like to just go back to bed to deal with the doom. But must prepare to teach my refugee women poetry workshop. (Counterintuitively, might be cheering?) Coffee!

A whole library of doom scrolls to get through. I dunno. Coffee.

NEW: So today in DOGE order just went out that all civilian DOD credit cards are immediately frozen/can't be used. This applies to people who are in the midst of DOD official travel. So maybe you're in Albania and your credit card just stopped working. Or maybe you're on travel from ...

Doom scrolling. The struggle is very real.

Out of the rack and ruin of our gangster death, The rape and rot of graft, and stealth, and lies, We, the people, must redeem The land, the mines, the plants, the rivers. The mountains and the endless plain— All, all the stretch of these great green states— And make America again!

Final voyage of SS United States. Script writers of curret season on Earth are too much on the nose, imho? At its time, the fastest ever a flagship even! Now, a worthless rust bucket while still dangerous for the surroundings youtu.be/Yel57ljzVas?...

Reminder! Sign up today for this online poetry class with the excellent #AlexisSears. www.92ny.org/class/poetry...

Make America Good Again. (Yes I understand this is a fraught proposition. But can't help it!)

If you’re siding with Vladimir Putin, you’re wrong.

imagine WANTING to receive two million emails

You know, weirdly, one thing that has vastly helped my mood and resilience in last weeks while all of (gestures vaguely) this is happening, is taking a vitamin D supplement. Take care of yourselves, dears, to better face the moment.

I would like this, please:

Ran into Spiderman, Cleopatra, a witch, and a pirate queen on my evening walk. (It is last days of Carnival.)

Well, this is terrifying. Please wake up, people:

Well, the Valentine's card I sent my husband from Oxford in early February just arrived. So at least that, I guess!

Can we live with bears in Europe? Yes. Many of us already do. As I argue in LIFELINES, co-existence isn’t just an ethical or ecological issue but a practical arrangement, requiring honest dialogue, reliable compensation schemes & the return of traditional skills. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

OK, I am still having to sleep in from exhaustion. But now time for coffee and getting things done. Admin, translation, poem tinkering. Trying not to get too entangled in the scrolls of doom. Did I mention . . . coffee?
