Took a little holiday break but the Web Accessibility Study Group is back! Our first stream is next week Thursday at 4pm EST on twitch. Join us for an info session covering upcoming accessibility topics and more. Please share so more devs can start their journey to a more accessible web ♥️

LMAO

If you’re building a website or app from scratch, it’s so much cheaper and much less stressful if you add in accessibility from the start. I’m currently trying to retrofit accessibility features and it’s taken a week to do something that could’ve taken less than a day if done at the start

Someone on X just commented on one of my tweets that "Bluesky is just an X clone for the 'internet is too mean' crowd." Fully unprovoked, just sent that I guess to get a rise out of me and anyone who read it. I am so happy to not be on raged bait central anymore.

Everytime I think about making my blog usable I get tired. My personal website is also in shambles. I've been thinking about fixing it for like a year now. I wish there was AI to just make things from my brain, til then I remain unimpressed 😡😭

I never hit the flow state while working as a rehab therapist because the nature of the job was working with individuals in pain who typically did not want to be there. Now I hit flow like everyday from my computer. I could weep.

I used to let my veggies spoil because I could never gather the energy to cut them up and now I make my partner cut them up and my life has literally changed. I didn't know that was the one thing stopping me from cooking but I've never cooked so much in my life since giving him this permanent task.

Hey you, buy the precut fruit and veggies, no, I know it’s not cheaper, I can read, but you’re not going to go home and cut them and put them away like you said. You’re actually going to NOT eat them if they’re not pre-cut so you’re actually wasting money. You are welcome, I love you too.

I love my job so much! I'm working on the wonkiest website ever, just wild, uncouth UX design and smiling from ear to ear as I write up the report. So much opportunity for the devs who worked on it to learn something new!

Currently testing some web apps for section 508 accessibility compliance. MewTwo is my co tester today and he wants y'all to know that everyone who think about making their apps better for people with disabilities (which makes it better in general for all) gets a treat!

My superpower is finding a bunch of accessibility defects during testing and making sure the developers do not feel panic over it lol. I feel like sometimes as accessibility people we can be seen as the fun police, when really it is a teaching moment. We don't know what we dont know.

to survive, I'm making my world smaller.

My pfp is from 2.5 years ago when I first started sharing my web accessibility journey publicly. This is now. Same face, longer hair, a lil more tired. Still trying to share free #a11y knowledge so we can all equally troll the web.

I feel oddly positive after surfing the wave of a very pessimistic week. It’s like the wave lifted me into the air and I caught the strings of an air balloon.

Today is going to be a good day. Say it with me.

If you're seeing encouragement/demands to do alt text and you're overwhelmed or confused about how to do it and you're worried you're going to do it wrong... this thread is for you. First: prompt questions to get you started.

I will not like your image if you don’t use alt text

PSA for newbies: Please include ALT text on your images. This is an inclusive space for blind and visually impaired people. Don't arrive late to the party and ignore a bunch of people. Also, please share this skeet, rather than liking it, to ensure the message gets delivered. Thanks!

I have been a little worried about the near future of accessibility in the United States. Like will our government uphold accessibility laws and enforce them? Everything feels like it is up in the air.

It is a strange feeling to scroll and not be induced into seeing red by rage bait.

I just finished reading Three Body Problem and it was a BANGER.

Happy Saturday! I finally touched some much-needed grass 🍃🏔️

Went out w a friend today and they told me almost everyone they meet bores them. Idk it made me speechless lol like damn ok then.

Wish I felt less cringe about marketing myself. Legit wanna crawl into a hole in the floor whenever I have to share a flyer/ link etc.

The bigger my old account got, the less free I felt to speak my true mind and talk off the cuff. Now I feel like I’m back to shouting into the void. No one to hear, no one to care, just me swirling into nothingness.

Ngl I missed having an inner monologue come to life on the web.

If I’m not following you back and you see this just tell me. I tried to go through my list after being inactive and gave up 1/4 way though 🥲

Live streaming has been super fun and I kind of want to start expanding beyond that. But I keep getting deterred by being tired from other projects. I fall back into the familiar routine I’ve already learned and am set up for. It’s been hard to push myself beyond the comfort zone.

Want to learn about web accessibility and how to make your web applications more usable for everyone? Here’s a small crash course on the subject! You can also get more info on live streams and join the web Accessibility Study Group over at github.com/codingtherap...

Today I went to a marsh and laid in the grass without a blanket. Just raw dogged the grass and stared at the sky with my body in a man X shape.

Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance.

I created a web accessibility and inclusion starter pack. Comment with your favourite accessibility folks, and I'll add them to the list. #a11y

I forgot I had this and will now use it 🌈🌙

It’s hard to split my focus between two apps when I can barely focus on one. I think twitter for me right now is a great place to share accessibility stuff and this may just be a good place for me to blab about random stuff without thousands watching lol

This week I’m going to make an attempt to be active here and see what it’s all about.

Join me today at 2pm est for a chill web accessibility stream :) I’ll be talking w a seasoned dev coffee chat style +doing a few simple code examples. Alt: Flyer with @africakenyah and @grahamthedev profile picture and captions: Web Accessibility Coffee Chat 4/27 @ 2pm EST at twitch.tv/africakenyah
