I'm on the Senate floor right now debating Trump's Big Ugly bill, and I really worry Americans do not fully realize just how bad it is. Please help get the word out.   This is just SOME of what's in the bill (so far).

the pivot from “we’re not cutting medicaid” to “come on look at these lazy bastards” sure was speedy

So now he's admitting that he wants to kick the working poor off medicaid.

With ICE poised to receive a massive infusion of cash courtesy the Republican spending bill, I figured it was worth documenting what they've been doing with the money they've currently got. Gift link: wapo.st/4lv53Wh

“The Solicitor General’s reversal leaves the 50-year-old limitation on coordinated spending by political parties, and this Court’s 24-year-old precedent upholding it, entirely undefended before the Court,” Elias wrote in his successful intervention motion. www.msnbc.com/deadline-whi...

The bill the Senate is voting on right now would reduce US power generation through 2035 by 300GW, raise wholesale & retail power prices, increase household energy costs, reduce national GDP, & kill 100s of 1000s of jobs. I mean, this isn't "public grocery store" bad, but it's pretty bad!

One of the central achievements of the Affordable Care Act was to *raise* the Medicaid eligibility threshold to 133% of the federal poverty level—because everyone understood that there are plenty of folks who couldn't otherwise afford health care even though they're just over that (arbitrary) line.

Let’s keep this simple: #VoteNo Flood the switchboards. Call your senators now—especially if they are Republican! ☎️ Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

You know, I spent some time in the USSR back in the day, watching their news every night. I don't miss it.

Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt if New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani should be deported "based on rap lyrics" — even though he is a naturalized U.S. citizen."Does

It’s pretty impressive how bad this bill is, honestly. Gigawatts of projected energy shortage. Starving kids. Massive deficit increase. But at least Trump’s rich friends get their tax break!

Anyone still quibbling that this isn't fascism?

The RNC wants to partner with Wyoming's election-denying secretary of state to defend a new voting law requiring proof of citizenship. They claim that the legal challenge from pro-voting groups poses a threat to their interests. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Republicans are making sure the Medicaid cuts don’t happen until after the midterm elections. It’s cynical politics, and it will hurt their own voters the most.

It is just INSANE that the GOP is going to tax new solar and wind capacity, as well as a whole bunch of other terrible energy policies in the BBB, when electricity prices have risen 20% since start of 2022, and the grid is ever more fragile. Prepare for a lot of rolling blackouts.

🔥 North Carolina Republican Tillis is now on the senate floor spitting truth bombs about #TrumpsTrillionsTransfer kicking millions off of health coverage — unleashed after announcing his retirement in the wake of Trump attacking him for opposing it.

Trump's Big Ugly bill will "destroy millions of jobs in America." It's also "utterly insane and destructive."   "It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future."   But I didn't say that—Elon did. Senators must vote NO to save our clean energy future.

There is no bottom to this barrel.

Just a reminder of who Thom Tillis is: In 2013, as N.C. House Speaker, he passed a massive voter suppression law that was struck down because it targeted Black voters "with almost surgical precision.” In the Senate he voted against the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Right Act.

As I said two weeks ago, the Dem establishment would rather burn down the entire party than let Mamdani become mayor of NYC. I fear they will scorch the Earth, even if it means losing races, rather than rally behind him. I also fear for his safety, considering credible death threats have increased.

Among what happened this weekend was the funeral for the Minnesota lawmaker and her husband who killed for political reasons. Biden and Harris both flew in to attend. Vance did not, nor did Trump—who still hasn’t said anything about the shootings other than he won’t call Walz

Love this guy: @brianschatz This bill is a real piece of shit it and it would be excellent if that’s all anyone talked about for the next few days. Super interested in your think piece about the NYC mayor’s race but let’s get to that after we try to stop biggest wealth transfer in American history.

NYT: “Factories having trouble filling 400,000 jobs… The hiring challenges faced by 🇺🇸 factories are multifaceted. Trump’s crackdown on immigration may eliminate workers who could have filled those jobs.” www.nytimes.com/2025/06/23/b...

That’s right. The billionaire bailout bill forces your tax dollars to pay for concentration camps and masked thugs to disappear your neighbors without due process. 16M people will be thrown off healthcare to pay for that, along with tax breaks for the rich.

Be sure to sit down with @nhannahjones.bsky.social’s latest piece in the NYT magazine. It’s a sobering reality that we should be shouting from the rooftops. (Gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/06/27/m...

Once again, Van Hollen for the win.

Pretty wild that every Democrat in America is trying to get the candidate Trump endorsed for NC governor to run for Senate.

A black box “automatic citizenship checker,” brought to you by the guys who deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia “by accident.”

Per @npr.org, the Department of Homeland Security, in partnership with the White House U.S. DOGE Service, has built a searchable national citizenship register with data from the Social Security Administration & immigration records— without public notice & comment. Chief UN nuclear inspector says damage wrought by US strike on Iran's nuclear facilities was "severe" but, contrary to Trump, not "total" and declared that Tehran could be enriching uranium again in "a matter of months." @sangernyt.bsky.social @tylerpager.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/06/29/u...

“Trump’s carrying out a fundamentally different plan, a well-organized, well-thought-out plan, to install himself and his allies in power forever that he never even contemplated carrying out and implementing in his first term.” www.thebulwark.com/p/dems-fear-...

Coming back from time off, seeing this in full and astounded by the level of gaslighting here. Shame on Karoline Leavitt. @natashabertrand.bsky.social doesn’t need my support but is a great reporter. Karoline is lying a lot here. Discussing this on my show Monday.

Senator @jeffyarbro.bsky.social calls out Marsha for selling out Tennesseans with #TrumpsTrillionsTransfer

Pam Bondi is Trump's lawyer, not America's. Pete Hegseth is Trump's Secretary of Defense, not America's. No one in this Cabinet works for anyone but Trump.

It's incredible that neither the president nor VP was here. The politicization of all facets of American life is coming from the White House. No other American president would have failed to pay their respects. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

I mean, look, if Mamdani actually had invented time travel, went back in time and invented Twitter so it existed six years before it was created, to tweet about something that happened when he was 9 yeas old, with a picture of him at age 33, well... then maybe it's something to talk about...

I feel this one in my bones.

👀⚕️💵 #medicaid

Economic policy by unhinged tweet?! Our normal. Sad!

I forgot about Ron Vera!

Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” adds nearly $4 trillion to our national debt. So. Much. Winning. 🙄

Someone is having a very bad birthday

Everyone should do this--speak out against the big ugly bill. Senate offices are closed, but their inboxes aren't. Let's get 1,000 more out by midnight: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...

HIGH DRAMA IN THE SENATE. There are 50 no votes on proceeding to reconciliation. Murkowski, Rick Scott, Mike Lee have not voted. One more no vote stalls the bill. Collins voted aye. Tillis, Ron Johnson and Rand Paul have voted no.
