So if he were publishing a paper in Germany in 1932, he would want both social democrats and Nazi sympathizers on his editorial board. This is the precise implication he makes.

Reality is subjective, but journalism that is free to ignore established facts and history and tries to appease everyone is not journalism. Like history, journalism does not exist to comfort us. It exists to chart a course through perspectives to arrive at a lucid perspective grounded in facts.

1. Dems have lost *at least* some interest in and focus on labor and the working class.
2. A lot of meaningful things they would do or have tried to do to help have been by Republicans because they would marginally hurt their rich friends.

“Democrats have so deeply divided the country with their belief in democracy and the rule of law, only Donald Trump’s famous love, compassion and praise of Hitler can save it. But first Biden must excuse his well-intentioned textbook corruption and attempt to send Congress to sleep with the fishes.”

I’m guessing this party concerned about gender affirming treatment - whose leader told people to inject bleach to cure Covid - that is rabidly anti-science - is not acting in good faith.

Yes and no. Many would.
But (R) are only a couple seats up in both Houses. And some of them still believe in elections they could lose.
Would the people let Congress let Trump get away with this, also a question.

The urgency has always been the thing for me with Dems. Where is it? I get conservative obstruction and not having full control, but overall they don’t even speak routinely with a sense of gravity that has been needed to meet the moment for a decade or two.

He goes ahead and proves people several steps behind in the establishment wrong. Not surprised. He promised a dangerous administration/regime and he is delivering.

I think that’s an important distinction at risk of getting lost. They have pretty different life experiences. Still feels like there was some room for more growth of character/plot.

Start yesterday or the next opportunity. 🙏
Demonizing colleges, private schools, bibles in classrooms, crazy curriculum, CRT hysteria, book banning, and no DoE (i.e no minimum or collective standards) all work together. A major part of the plan is to make Americans too stupid to know the difference.

I feel like “I’m old enough to remember” when the Republican Party even of 10-15 years ago derived their direction from anything other than one man’s sadism.

and defined by a willingness or zeal to attack democracy, break institutions, and destroy precedents, with the aid of ex-Republicans i.e. those who incinerated past beliefs, principles, statements to bow to Trump (Graham et al).

Will blaming Biden, Democrats and elites (besides himself and his friends and his administration) for his own policies work?
My gut feeling is no. Only about 30% of voters voted for him. And not all of those are followers.

I wonder if it will work. I think there is still a difference between cult propaganda and hypnosis. Even good propaganda is not going to convince people prices haven’t taken off if he follows through.

His big mistake was trying to hide it, I’m sure that’s what they objected to. Being a clear and transparent about how much of a rapist you are gets you elected President after all.

Oh I hate it. It absolutely should.
But, for instance, right now it’s the only thing standing between e.g. people who survived cancer and insurance companies.

I am not trying to “reduce” anything.
That was my perception of the presentation in the image.
I did not say “just a single issue”, I said I did not agree with framing it as “a single issue”, i.e. as the only consideration in voting.

The mass killing and genocide in Gaza is horrific and beyond belief. I’ve written my reps x3 (for what it was worth). Maybe defining the Democratic Party on any single thing and ruling out voting for them - when the majority of the electorate DOES NOT care like you do - also leads us to dark places.

It’s bad for sure. Not arguing. One of the most disgusting things the party could do.
I just don’t think framing it as a single issue is right, because it’s much more complex and the damage Trump will/can do (vs Dems) is much more complex.
comment in response to

Yes. But that’s not the only issue.
For instance, Trump would end ACA if he can and people would die as a result. Democrats would not do that.

Facing the end of its existence, the Biden administration is taking unprecedented actions to arm Ukraine but remains committed to continue the same policies that explicitly result in slaughter of Palestinians. The hypocrisy and lack of principle are exhausting.

I did not survive childhood cancer just so I could tolerate one of the scientifically worst, most confusing healthcare systems in the developed world and its grifting corporations and watch fascists sabotage the actual good it does offer to those who need it.

Well farm workers are already not governed by normal wage rules. I think most (white) people would get a surprise.
